The Day I Lied
ELLIS REED
They say 'Don't judge a book by its cover.' nor it's title, nor it's author. Bottom line is: don't judge at all. But the thing is, judging is inevitable.
It's just something you can't hide from.
It will find you.
-And it will serve you as a dish for its friends: doubt, denial, and pride, to feast on.
Fun, right?
"What? Is there something on my face?" Evil spawn asked.
When I woke up this morning, Andy was already gone. Smith said he had to return to his room so I held no grudge against him.
"You're cute." I said to Evil spawn whilst he seemed astounded and perturbed at the same time. In an instant, he turned red like a tomato.
"Are you okay, Ellis?"
"Yeah, you're cute but you're evil."
"Must be the meds." He murmured to himself.
Andy suddenly emerged from the door looking like rainbows and sunshine. Uh-oh. He brought movies.
"Ellis! Ellis! Ellis-"
"What." That wasn't a question. It was more of the annoyed, 'what do you want, I don't really care', what.
"Let's watch Finding Nemo!" In life you will find people; those who are actually children and those who are trying to be like children.
"No."
"Have you even watched Finding Nemo?" Andy eyed me skeptically.
"No."
He stared at me with wide eyes. It's as if he'd never seen a creature like me- or he simply can't believe my answer. I can't help if I'm not attracted to those movies. They just bore me.
"But- it's Finding Nemo!" It's a movie about fish.
"So?"
"The plot line is glorious!- And sweet, and heart warming- Don't tell me you haven't heard of it!"
"Okay, I won't tell you."
"Okay."
"Okay!" This is so not a fault in our stars moment where okay will be our always.
"We are still watching this." A groan escaped my lips as I prepped myself in bed. Might as well take a nap while he watches.
"Trust me Ellis, you are going to love this." I only mumbled a feeble reply. See, there goes my enthusiasm.
Halfway through the movie, I think I fell asleep. You know the kind of sleep when you know you're sleeping but you still feel the things going on around you? -Yeah, that kind of sleep.
"So, what do you think?" He faced me with his bright enthusiastic smile.
"I think it's great! I love it." Lies. Ellis you are such a liar. But something in his smile caught me off guard. It was so- hopeful.
"So," He started.
"So?"
"Twenty questions?" Twenty questions? What is this, a first date?
"Dude, that's really cliché."
"But what's not fun about being cliché?" Ahaha. A lot?
"The fact that it's repetitive?"
