Chapter Thirteen: I'm Sorry

I was listening to Adele while reading/editing this so...i'm crying too 🥲👍

When Jungwon opened his eyes, Sunoo was still asleep. He had only planned on resting his eyes for a moment, but when he checked his phone, three hours had passed. Jungwon rubbed his eyes and then pulled his hand from Sunoo's grip and stood. He was in the middle of a stretch when his phone vibrated in his hand.

Heeseung

Are you still with Sunoo? I think Sunghoon is ready to talk.

Jungwon opens the message and looks down at the sleeping boy.

Jungwon

Yeah, just give me a minute. We fell asleep, let me wake him up.

Jungwon stuffs his phone in his pocket and sighs deeply. He reaches down and shakes Sunoo gently, careful not to scare him. Sunoo's eyes flutter open and focus on Jungwon. For a moment, he looks normal. Jungwon watches Sunoo's eyes go dark as the memories no doubt flood back in.

"Sunghoon is...it's time to have that talk." Jungwon says. Sunoo looked away and took a deep breath. He sits up and moves to the edge of his bed, staring down at his feet. Jungwon grabbed his head and forced him to look up at him.

"You can do this." Jungwon whispers. Sunoo nods.

"I know."

Jungwon gave him one last smile before leaving him behind. Jungwon walked towards the living room but found it empty. He then went to find an equally empty kitchen. The silence was eery and foreign. It made him uneasy.

"The others went out to explore the city." Heeseung explains, his voice almost echoed in the silence. Jungwon turned to face him, comforted by his presence.

"Do...you think they'll be okay? Will we be okay?" Jungwon asks. Heeseung uncrosses his arms and closes the distance between them, pulling Jungwon into a hug.

"Of course. I trust them. It only seems like a big deal because it happened so suddenly. After thinking about it...I'm sure everything will be fine in the end." Heeseung assures. Jungwon returned his hug and mumbled an okay into his shirt. If Heeseung said everything would be fine, then Jungwon would believe him.

Every part of him wanted Heeseung to be right.

"Should we go explore too?" Heeseung asks after a moment. Jungwon pulls away and searches for water.

"Should we leave them alone?" Jungwon asks, skeptical of the idea.

"Wonnie...they'll be okay."
