Part I

3rd Person POV

The Reprosperissance is a time period where kings and queens ruled the land which had rebirthed from the dark era that was the Forgotten Ages. Specifically there were two kingdoms one in the south near the equator and one up north closer to where it’s cold.

   Prince Oliver Reonaldi the IV, third Prince of Genovia the from the south and Crown Prince Edward Christian the ll, of Chatholopia of the north. Edward, who was first in line for the throne of his empire, was engaged to Oliver’s sister Diane.

The engagement had already been announced and there were no take-backsies. The wedding was to take place in a year. However during that time the princess Diane fell in love with a pirate and ran away two months before the wedding, after failing to convince her father to call off the ceremony.

Luckily, no one outside of the family and their household has ever seen the prince or princess. So their father concocted a plan. Oliver would take Diane’s place. They would say he went traveling far away so no one would contact or call for him. So in the two months before the wedding they prepared Oliver for his role.

This was a bit difficult at first because Oliver was very resistant. However, after realizing the situation that his family would be in if the marriage didn’t happen or if they called it off, he reluctantly went along with the plan. A month passed and Oliver was nearly ready, when, suddenly, they got invitations from the King of Catholopia to attend a pre-marital/engagement party. They knew they had to attend or things may go haywire. So everyone got ready. The invitation also stated that the Princess and some of her handmaidens should stay in the Kingdom till the wedding to get used to the place. They should also arrive a few days before the party to get accustomed to the palace before the event.

Oliver ‘s POV

I was getting ready for my trip to Catholopia. I was going to wear a beige, modest dress with dark brown leather flats and have hair extensions for the trip. Although my hair was long, it did not fit a maiden's description so I had to wear extensions till my hair was the same length.

As I looked down and examined the dress while the maids did my hair I wondered how I got into this mess. Oh wait now I remember! My blasted wretch of a sister ran away with some hooligan pirate.

Although I am mad at her, I can’t complain too much nor can I really blame her. I don’t mind the dresses as they are not too uncomfortable and I don’t have to continuously be nagged anymore for my petite frame and the fact that I suck at all things athletic with the exceptions of swordsmanship.

I also understand why she ran. She left me a letter when she ran saying that she was truly in love but the relationship was banned and wrong in every way. She also said that the burden of marriage, and to a man she hasn't met none the less, was too much to bear and that she could no longer stand the weight that society had put on her shoulders.

Still I had borne the burden of the third prince and now I will bear hers too. So I think she had no right to complain about that-

“…Oliver…Princ…Liver…Prince Oliver!” A pair of fingers snapped in front of my face as my name was loudly called, pulling me out of my thoughts.

“Ye-Yes?,” I managed to say.

“Your hair is done, your majesty,” said my handmaid, Lisa. Lisa was my favorite handmaiden; she was more of a friend in fact.

“I told you to just call me Oliver Lisa, or I guess Diane since I might as well try to get used to the name,” I told her. “Very well Diane,” She replied before saying, “ your maj- I mean Diane  we must get going, we have to leave now if we are going to make it to Catholopia by sun-down” as she handed me my hat. “Very well let’s go” I replied and left with her. We left my quarters and made my way downstairs. There, I see my father waiting for me at the exit.

3rd Person

“Oli-Diane,” says Oliver’s father, King Simon the IIII, his voice filled with a comforting calmness that only a king could have in this situation. Beside him are Oliver’s brothers Prince Liam and Crown Prince Charles. They do not know about Oliver and Diane’s situation. So they were a bit confused as to why their father almost called Diane Oliver, but chalked it up to him missing Oliver since he is ‘away traveling’.

The two, Diane and Oliver, were very similar in their looks both having a milky, creamy off-white hair that’s tinted pink, a signature identification of the Royal family of Genovia. Charles, Liam and King Simon also have the same coloured hair but tinted in different colors. That’s why it’s also known as the Royal Family of Pastels.

All of them are quite tan with the shade varying from sibling to sibling. Oliver and Diane are slightly lighter than the medium shade. It’s normal since they live in a tropical Kingdom. Diane has blue eyes however and Oliver has amber ones.

That’s probably the main difference between them, but most people don’t notice because Diane liked to wear sun-glasses because she thought they were stylish. The reason they look so similar is because Diane was born a year before Oliver, him being only a year and four months younger than her. While the others have a gap of at least two years or more.

Oliver looked upon his family from the bottom of the staircase and was about to speak before realizing that he had to change his voice to a slightly higher octave. He had been slowly lowering the voice she spoke in when he was Diane over the past few months to fit his voice, but it was still a bit higher than his own.

He cleared his throat before saying, “ Hello father, brothers, are you ready to leave? We must go soon” He then saw his father share a look with his brothers, before saying, “My dear daughter we can not come with you to Chatholopia. Some urgent matters have come up and I’m afraid I need both your brothers help, and in case you forgot Charles and I have to stay to take care of the kingdom either way, but with this matter it looks like Liam will have to stay, at least for a couple of days, as well to help”

Liam then spoke right after saying, “ I promise I’ll try to make it to the party, it’s in a couple of days right?” Oliver nods, and Liam continues, “So hopefully we can resolve this matter quickly and I’ll be able to be there!”

Oliver stood for a minute before realizing this might be a good thing, his brother would not be able to call him out on his behavior if he wasn’t there, so feigning a saddened but optimistic look he replied saying, “ Oh it’s alright! It’s just the party after all! You’ll be coming to the wedding at the very least so don’t overwork or stress yourself over it”

His brothers stood there then smiled. Liam said, “ Oh you’re too selfless for your own good Diane! Don’t worry, we promise to take care of ourselves! Now I don’t want to let you gooo!” Before jumping on Oliver and wrapping him in a hug.

Charles then chuckled and said, “Liam get off Diane before you kill her and since when did you get so nice you’re starting to act like Oliver, Diane. You ought to be careful those ladies out there will snatch you up if you don’t have your wits about you!” 

Oliver sweated and laughed nervously, “Very funny Charles, but I’ll be safe and forgive me for trying to take care of my brothers!”

Charles was about to shoot a snarky reply back when King Simon interrupted them by saying, “ Very well Diane, we’ve kept you for long enough you ought to go now, your bags are already in the carriage so you must make haste if you want to make it there on time”

Oliver gave a sweet smile before thanking his father for the reminder. He smiled and waved to his father and brothers before getting into his carriage and setting off on his long journey to Catholopia.
