AN: Just a small warning. This chapter will contain a briefly graphic description of death.
After a few hours of watching the same channel, you grew bored. It was at least a thousand times better than being stuck in that damn bathroom, but you were now too curious to be patient with watching the same channel all night.
Looking at the time on what Suguru described as the "microwave," you found that you had a few hours to go before daylight. You decided to see if Suguru was up, again not really thinking about human time or space.
You floated on your stomach lazily, resting your head on your forearms, as you made your way to his bedroom. As expected, it was completely dark and you could softly hear Suguru's snoring.
From what you could see in the moonlight, his queen-sized bed sat beneath two large windows at the center of the room. He was asleep on his stomach, his arms shoved under his pillow. His mouth was slightly agape, the source of the snoring. You sighed and stared for a moment, still completely bored but reminiscing of a time where you could sleep. You wondered if it was still possible.
Suguru looked completely peaceful, his face still looking somehow familiar - especially now that you could get a good look at it without worrying about being rude for staring.Suguru suddenly began to stir, picking his upper body up in order to turn. His eyes peeled awake for just a moment, only to widen at the sight of your mist-like form staring at him in the darkness.
"Holy shit!" Suguru hissed, grabbing his chest to catch his breath after yet another fright.
"Sorry!" You yelled in a whisper, flipping off your stomach and going vertical. "I was just...contemplating."
"Yeah...it's alright," Suguru began to calm down, relaxing his body and settling back down into bed. "You know, you could go keep trying to pick things up. That'll keep you occupied."
"S-sure, sorry again," you felt so bad that a feeling in your chest ached. You felt like you were messing up just about everything!
You returned to the living room and continued to watch that boring channel while attempting to pick up the rectangle with buttons that you eventually learned was the 'remote.'
You had a few successful attempts in the few hours you tried, but each time it would simply plop right back on the coffee table you grabbed it from. It was at least enough to get by."'Mornin," Suguru opened up his bedroom door, sleepy but fully dressed for a day at school. He had a small smile on his face. "Ready to go?"
"To go?!" You were shocked, dropping the remote one last time. "But you didn't have breakfast?" You floated over to him as he began to exit.
"Don't need it," Suguru chuckled, but your furrowed brow told him otherwise. "I'll grab something at school, how's that sound?"
"Better than nothing," you grumbled and followed him out the door.
The two of you took the path to the high school. It was relatively early and it appeared that no one was there except for the two of you.
Suguru was the first in the faculty room, flicking on the light switch and meandering toward his desk."Why are we here so early?" You asked, looking about the room, specifically at Satoru's messy desk next to Suguru's. The man appeared to have no sense of organization.
"It's just nice to get a head start on things," Suguru calmly explained. "It gives me a chance to meditate and mentally prepare for the day."
"Oh," you replied, "are you Buddhist, then?"
