CHAPTER 7 - supergirl

❛❛ Heroes are made by the paths they choose,
not the powers they are graced with. ❜❜
BRODI ASTON

Before Tony or Kara react the whole city came down on them. "Go! I've got this!" Kara yelled at Tony as he struggled to get out of the way. Tony looked at her one last time before he flew off, he didn't show it but he was truly worried about Kara, she was the only family he had left.

Kara placed her hands on the core, as she used her strength to push up trying to slow down the city. She grunts as she pushed even harder, using all of the strength she had left. She couldn't fail, she wouldn't, and the people are counting on her.

She screamed in pain as she pushed even harder to the point she could faint. Tony watched from afar seeing the city slowly burst into flames. Kara saw the flames and used her freeze breath to prevent the flames to grow.

The Avengers watched as Kara was sacrificing everything for a city. All worried that she might not make it. The lifeboats slowly made it to the ground every civilian got out as the gates opened, watching Supergirl save the city.

As they all watched the city coming down safely they shield their eyes as a wave of dust came words them. Tony waited, he waited for an answer from Kara, but seconds turned into minutes and the longer he waited he grew impatient.

"Supergirl, Supergirl!" Tony called out.

No response.

Natasha walked next to Tony as she puts one hand on his shoulder. The rest of The Avengers stood side by side expecting the worse. Wanda however stayed back and just lost her brother, she couldn't lose Kara, she need her. Kara was the only one there for her, the only one that believed in her when no one else did.

"Tony..." Steve began to say but got cut off by a figure in the air. The people of Sokovia started to clap and cheer as they saw Supergirl in the air.

"Supergirl, supergirl, supergirl!" they started to chant.

The Avengers all had a giant grin on their faces, she did it, and Supergirl saved the day once again. Kara slowly made her way down as she was surrounded by the civilians, praising her like a god.

News everywhere where all about Supergirl. 'Supergirl Saves the Day', 'The Girl of Steel strike again', 'Is Supergirl a Hero?', 'Is Supergirl a savior?', 'False God!'

"Are you as a united states senator comfortable saying to a grieving parent? Supergirl could have saved your child but on principles. We did not want her to act." The interviewer asked.

"I'm not saying she shouldn't act. I'm saying she shouldn't act unilaterally." the woman responded.

"What are we talking about here? Must there be a Supergirl?"

"There is." she simply stated.

Kara sighed, as she darted her attention away from the tv. All she ever wanted was to save people, she never did this for the attention. She wanted to keep her promise to her mom, and she will continue to keep it.

"Next!" The guard called as Kara stepped up adjusting her glasses. "Sign." he pointed at the paperwork in front of her. Kara quickly signed in and puts the pen down, "You know where to go."

Kara heard the buzz as she walked into the visiting room, sat down in her usual chair, and grabbed the telephone. Waiting for the man on the other side of the glass to do the same. "Hey, slugger."

She chuckled at the nickname, "You've been calling me that since I was 16. The funny thing is I finally got a breakthrough in my design."

"Really? Tell me all about it."

"I would love to but you wouldn't understand most of it." Kara joked making him laugh, "You always were smarter than any other kid."

They both looked at each other, wanting nothing more than to have more than 10 minutes to talk. Kara hated that he was in there, it wasn't him and she knew that. He was innocent and she was gonna prove it.

"You don't deserve to be here. I'm making this right, I promise that one day-" Kara got cut off by the man, "Kara we've talked about this, it's time to let it go. You've got to stop worrying about me and live your life."

"I am, and it's all because of you. You taught me to live my life to follow this insane dream to change the world." Kara could feel tears start to form in her eyes, "You are the best father I could ever ask for after Howard died."

She placed her hand on the glass and the man did the same putting his hand on the glass. "And you are the best daughter I could ever ask for." the man smiled.

"Sorry I'm late," Kara said as she flew in walking alongside Natasha, "You're right on time," she replied.

"They're good. They're not a team." Steve informs.

"Let's beat them into shape," Natasha says as Steve opened the door to reveal the new Avengers: Vision, Wanda, Rhodey, and Sam Wilson.

Steve sighed as he looked at them, "Avengers..."
