Kai St James was nine years old when she met the Winchesters.

At the time, Kane St James was needed by his longtime friend, John Winchester, for a hunt. Kai was left with Bobby Singer, a man she met and had stayed with on multiple occasions but never for a long time. Either way, she still admired the funny, old man.

However, this time was different as she now had to stay with him for possibly a few weeks and was joined with John's boys, Sam and Dean.

Although Kai was quite a happy and bubbly child, she had never been as shy as she was the day she met the Winchester boys.

When she settled in that day, it was Sam Winchester she met first. He was a few years older than her, around fourteen, with a mop of dark, curly hair and warm, brown eyes and the softest, dimpled smile. He was cute and sweet to her and something about him felt warm.

He had made polite conversation with her and joked around with her, easily pushing away her quietness and allowing her to grow confident with him.

It was at the dinner table when she met the eldest, Dean Winchester. He was much older, around eighteen, and taller and looked stronger. He had a sharp jaw and bright, green eyes. His voice was deep and and loud as he made silly jokes and laughed at everything. He got scolded many times by Bobby for drinking so much beer- to which, he laughed- and ate his food as if his life depended on it.

He hadn't really spoken to the girl, unless to introduce himself or when making fun of Sam and encouraging her to join in with the insults, but Kai practically worshipped those moments for so long. She even went on about some pretty, older girls he had hooled up with and although Kai didnt know what that mean, she hated the idea of him with other girls.

She hated the way she acted, all shy and childish (keep in mind, she was a child), she cursed herself for not talking to him more or for laughing at his jokes she must've looked so silly just sitting there quietly, watching him discreetly.

Of course, the truth was Dean didn't actually care, nor was he able to due to how drunk he had gotten. To him, she was just some random little girl who was being left with Bobby like she was, sure he could try to make conversation with her and crack some jokes but he really couldn't care if she responded or not.

And so, even though those mext few weeks weren't any different to the eldest Winchester, Kai St James held those memories close to her heart for a very long time.
