It was the Friday morning when I was finally going to meet my mother after 10 years.

It didn't feel real. It felt like a fever dream.

I got ready wearing the uniform Maude gave me. Carolina also got ready too. We both walked to the centre of Monaco and went into her cafe called 'Le petit café de Maude' (Maude's little café).

We walked in and Maude greeted us with hugs.

She showed us how to use stuff and we listened even though we knew how to brew coffee as we worked in a café back in Italy.

We started serving customers. It was fun to serve customers, they all have their own life with their own problems. It always fascinated me.

I was bringing two coffees for table 12 and when I walked over there, Charles and Max were there.

"Two coffees?" I asked with a smile completely ignoring Charles and his widened eyes not knowing I worked here.

"Oh yes please!" Max said,

I placed the two coffees down gently on the table,

"Here you go hope you enjoy the coffee," I softly wished to them,

"Thank you, Malina, right?" Max asked recognising me with Carlos,

"Mhm, that's right!" I responded to him.

"You work here?" Charles asked unfazed,

"I only started working here today. The lady who owns this place used to nanny me and my brother when we were younger," I answered Charles knowing that Maude nounou used to nanny him too.

"You know Maude too personally don't you Charles?" Max asked Charles,

"Mhm I do," Charles bluntly spoke back,

"Crazy," It looked like Max knew there was something on about me and Charles and he just didn't know what.

"Okay well I better go serve all these other customers, nice seeing you Max," I said to Max patting him on his shoulder.

Completely dismissed Charles and walked off.

I continued my waitressing and had one more serve until my shift ended. It was one coffee and two hot chocolates.

I walked over to the table and to my surprise it was her. My mother.

She sat there with two kids, which looked about 8 or 7.

My jaw dropped as I saw her with a whole new family. I didn't want to act to hurt as Max and Charles were quite close to her table and could see me.

"Café et deux chocolats chauds?" I asked my mother.

She looked away from her phone the first time and looked at me.

"Malina?" My mother questioned shocked.
She barely aged. She dressed rich and fancy, with Versace glasses. Her eyes stared at me astonished. It was as if she thought I came back from the dead.

"So a new family hm?" I inquired.

My mother sat still for a minute.

I didn't know what else to say, I was so hurt by all of this. Maybe my dad was right.

"You shouldn't be here Malina," My mother said,

"And why's that, Maman?" I fought back slightly raising my voice,
