WON YOUR HEART — lee heeseung
highschool rivals, enemies to lovers auThe basketball court was packed as expected. The stuffy, hot atmosphere was unbearable to you.. you didn't even know why you decided to go to the game because you hated seeing him win.
Every game Heeseung played, he won. Every girl he liked, he dated. Every friend he wanted, he befriended. Effortlessly, at that. He got everything he wanted. And now, he wanted you.
Shoulder to shoulder you sat with your friends who were enjoying their fountain cola and bickering about their senior crushes who were warming up on the court. It was the last basketball game of the season.
They didn't talk about how cute Heeseung was, or how tall he would be compared to them like the other players because they knew he liked you. For some strange reason he liked you. You still couldn't understand it. All the words you had exchanged in the past were harsh, but passionate nonetheless.
Your eyes couldn't help but travel around the court— it seemed like this basketball game was all for him. His smiling face on banners, fangirls and fanboys screaming his name.
"School spirit my ass." You mumbled under your breath, watching his tall stature run around the court as a warm up. Lee Heeseung. Year twelve, class two.. I hate you, but I love you.
Shifting in your seat from the overstimulating headache, you realized you were more sensitive than you thought. Your eyes couldn't help but veer to his direction. Heeseung stood with his hands around his waist to catch his breath — in that moment his dangerous eyes met with yours. His gaze caused your neck to feel warmer than usual. You touched the right side of your neck with your cold fingers to cool down a bit.
A buzzing sound set off, indicating the game had started.
The shuffle of sports sneakers, loud uproars of your peers and the indirect eye contact with his caused your shoulders to tense up. You kept reminding yourself you had a game later on in the day so you tried to break the shoulder habit but you just couldn't. The Lee Heeseung was right in front of you. Looking at you with every opportunity he got.
Heeseung dribbled around the court some more, effortlessly shooting every shot he took. His smooth lips formed into a soft smile with every basket he shot. He never missed. He knew you were watching closely. God, was he full of himself, but couldn't help but like him anyway.
Before you knew it the game had ended. He had won once again. He rolled his head back in relief and excitement , smiling as his teammates patted his back. To your surprise he ran to you, and before you knew it he was in front of you. Short puffs of his sweet breath hit your face. The beaded sweat on his forehead had made you realize he didn't get everything he wanted so easily. He worked for it. He worked for everything he got and he deserved it.
The sweet moment was cut short when he opened his smirking lips.
"After I make this shot, we'll date." He said. That was the Heeseung you knew. An uproar from your classmates around you had made you more curious than expected.
"Shoot your shot." You challenged him— he held out his hand with his palm facing up. A sigh escaped your lips. You uncrossed your arms and took his hand. Intertwining fingers with his, you couldn't understand yourself. Maybe you just had to take his hand and seize the opportunity. The opportunity for him to embarrass himself, you hoped.
You both hastily ran over to the court; a smile which you couldn't contain was caused by the boy you had complex feelings about. He let go of your hand and positions himself. He shoots..
He misses.
He blankly turned his head towards you ; you couldn't help but but let out a laugh. His eyes widened in a state of shock; biting his lip he looked back at the hoop..a blank stare. He looked cute.
"You forgot I am on the basketball team, didn't you?" One of your peers handed you another basketball. You stood close to him, almost teasing at his blank expression. You stood with your shoulder against his exposed bicep.. the unspoken tension between you was immense. You shoot. You score.
He looked over at you with those not-so dangerous eyes and realized they had somehow softened.
"But.. but I never miss.." He tilted his head one way, refusing to believe it. Your heart wasn't easy to win over. Maybe you were just plain stubborn, but you liked this game. You liked seeing him lose.
"Let's keep playing this game. Not sure if you will win, it might take some time." Coming close to his face, your eyes shifted to his pretty, pouted lips. He looked at you the same way. You wanted to kiss him. He wanted to kiss you.
An long exhale escaped your lips.
You decided not to kiss him just yet. Instead you turned around and locked arms with your friends. Skipping away, he finally understood that it would take some time before he won your heart.
