CHAPTER FIVE. BUNGO STRAY DOGS."Power is not meant for saving the weak. Why do you ask? Because exploiting them is required to make money. Even if you use that money to help the powerless, it's simply one more jaunt around the revolving door. Power must be used for loftier goals."
— Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald.
Official Port Mafia members were always taught to keep their whereabouts and normal routes strictly confidential. Never move around carelessly; remember to always keep your guard up.
The boss made sure to implement this standard early for any new upcoming members. "Ones who are quick to run away carelessly will always fall into the Mafia world." Is something he would relay to anyone who dared step inside his organization.
Unfortunately, for Motojiro Kajii, he developed the awful habit of leaving obvious trails of destruction wherever he went. Some would call him a maniac or the "Man of Science while others would say he's a "Pure Arsonist".
Whatever the aliases were, Motojiro didn't care. He seemed to always be in his little world, and that's exactly why his decisions had gotten him into the worst situation possible.
Ogai Mori, boss of the entire Port Mafia, was never the one to just let anyone into his organization. Not someone who could potentially have any detrimental effects on him and his business. Mori thought Kajii's love for alcohol and his eccentric and easily excitable attitude would be a cause for concern in the future.
Now that The Guild has made their appearance in Yokohama, they've caused quite the controversy for The Port Mafia and the Armed Detective Agency.
He remembers having one of the Guild's assassins eliminated by one of his executives, Chuuya Nakahara, during his clash with another Guild associate who could manipulate a pocket dimension with a huge living doll. Luckily, the young woman was taken down by Atsushi Nakajima.
The older man sat behind his wooden maple desk, his face becoming grim from the news that had just been brought to his attention. Why couldn't he perceive that something like this would happen sooner? Of course, Fitzgerald would want revenge for his fallen comrades.
His black lizard faction reported back with significant second-and third-degree burns; numerous Port Mafia-related buildings were severely damaged by a widespread explosive fire; Motojiro Kajii also suffered significantly worse injuries and burns; his clothing was stained from fighting whoever infiltrated their covert hideout.
Unfortunately, all non-ability-user members of the working staff didn't survive, and they were all burned to death.
As to who was to blame for leaving his company and his people in such dire straits, there weren't many obvious possibilities, but Mori knew the issue better than anyone else had up to this point. He was aware that this was a deliberate attack against the Port Mafia, not just a chance occurrence.
After a thorough examination and the disposal of any artifacts inside the abandoned buildings that may still be reachable by the Special Division for Unusual Powers, only Chuuya, Higuchi, and Akutagawa were allowed access to the facility. In all honesty, Mori didn't think that an investigation of his organization's activities was necessary at this point.
