'I can't, I can't' my brain repeats itself as I lay awake, staring at the ceiling at 2.30 in the morning. Most people dislike moving schools but this was different. I had been to two schools already the first was just temporary, the second was a nightmare.
Before you ask, yes I was bullied at my previous school and it got to the point where I couldn't take it anymore. People laughing and sniggering at you in the corridors. The constant worry of making a fool of yourself or having something in your hair or on your face. People spreading rumours and you losing the friends you thought once cared. I was alone. I'd go to school sit by myself all day then come home and go straight up to my room and this would happen EVERYDAY. One day I decided I wouldn't go into school and thats when my parents knew something wasn't right and managed to get everything they needed from me. They agreed to let me change schools but that didn't take away the anxiety.
It's now 3 in the morning and tears are beginning to roll down my face, I don't think I can do this. New school, new people, new enviroment, new teachers, no friends. Eventually I closed my eyes and drifted off to sleep.
BEEP BEEP BEEP! The pounding of the alarm is enough to send anyone to insanity. I wacked the alarm almost knocking it of the bedside table and looked up at the ceiling thinking of the day ahead.
"Come on Cassie you can do this, it's going to be ok" I whispered to myself
I slowly rolled out of bed, panic in every move. I grabbed my uniform from the table and slowly began getting dressed. I didn't even bother with breakfast, I dragged myself to the bathroom, brushed my teeth and put on some make-up and then went downstairs. I was being asked all sorts of questions but I just ignored them and continued to stare into space worrying about the day ahead.
" ...and don't worry, it's going to be fine" Mum spoke, me not listening.
"Yeah whatever" I groaned as I grabbed my bag and headed for the door.
Walking to school, I made sure to take notice of my surroundings as it would feel like ages till I could see them again. Wishing I had brought my camera, I started planning shots in my head. My ultimate dream is to become a world known photographer and ideally I'd like to live in New York.
::::::::::Break Time::::::::::::
The first two lessons were pretty dyer, I had double english and I can't remember any of it. After coming out of lesson I made my way to the cafeteria. I sat down on a table by myself, well I thought I was by myself.
"Are you by yourself?" a dark haired boy smiled
"Yeah, but I'm ok" I smiled back as he sat down next to me
"You're new here aren't you?"
"Yeah, I'm ...new" I hesitated
"Well it's nice to meet you, my name is Drew" He held his hand
"Cassie" I replied shaking his hand
"Don't mind me joining you do you?"
"No, no not all" I laughed quietly
"So ..erm ...what brings you here?"
"I was moved here"
"How come?"
"I was bullied ...badly"
"Awh thats not nice"
"No its not" I sighed
"So how are you finding it here?" He stared at me with sympathy
"Its ok, I guess I haven't been here long enough to make a proper judgement"
"Well if you need a guide or ...a friend, just come and find me"
"cool" I smiled
We spent the whole of break and lunch talking, it seemed Drew was also a bit of a loner. Drew was average height, maybe a little small for his age but still somewhat taller than me. He had floppy dark brown hair and extremely dark brown eyes and a smile that I knew I wouldn't forget. Drew would probably end up being the only friend I'll make ...if you would say he was my friend of course.
After school I went to the Old Reck, its called the old reck because it used to be a lovely park until it got recked a few years back by a group of teenagers who have since grown up. I use the Old Reck as a get away. There is a pile of old tree logs which I sit on top of. There is a wonderful view of the town and the next town and sitting on those old tree logs is amazing when the sun is setting. I've always said I'll go with my camera one day but I'm yet to do that.
I clambered up onto the tree logs and I could here rustling behind me. I turned round and no-one was there. I turned back to the view and then was a sudden 'ow!'. I knew someone else was there with me. Usually I'm the only one so this was a weird experience.
"Cassie?" The person exclaimed
I turned round and standing there covered in dirt and tree branches was Drew. He smiled awkwardly as I tried to hold back from laughing. I let out a little giggle as Drew laughed with me. I jumped up off the logs and went over to Drew who was still covered in twigs and dirt.
"What happened?" I asked, concerned
"I may have tripped ...over a twig?"
"A twig?" I laughed
"Oh I'm glad you find it funny"
"Sorry" I tried not to laugh again
"So, how comes you're down here?"
"I always come down here, to clear my head ...why are you here?"
"Taking the long route home" Drew replied suspiciously
"Really?"
"...well no, I saw you down here from the hill, I wanted to make sure you were ok"
"Well you didn't have to, I'm fine, but thank you anyway, thats very ...sweet of you"
"So I'll see you tomorrow then?"
"Yeah, sure"
Drew smiled and then walked back the way he came, I climbed back onto top of the tree logs just in time for the sun to set.
After the sun had set I made my way home in which it started to rain but strangely it didn't bother because my first day at my new school went ok and I made at least 1 friend which lets face it, I didn't think would happen. Let's just hope Drew is here for the long term and not temporary.
