The human mind is very clever at tricking itself,

at keeping the despair of inevitability away.

The mind in itself is incredible.

It can trick itself out of love,

to protect the heart from getting hurt.

I sprung awake from my slumber after hearing the door bell ring downstairs. Once I realized that it continued and that no on else was going to answer, I hopped out of bed and down the stairs towards the front door. I opened the front door to see the stranger from the grocery store, only this time he had no mask and I could see his sharp jawline, complimentary to his defined atoms apple in his neck and black dangling piercings from his ears.

"How do you know where I live?" I questioned without any hesitation.

He rubbed the back of his neck,

"I know it seems creepy, which was not at all my intention, I was just a bit worried and wanted to know if you were okay, so I followed you back. When I realized that other people lived here, I was going to just forget about it. something told me just to check and make sure though anyway." He chuckled nervously.

"Oh, yeah, that's fine. I'm alright  I was just surprised because I've never had that happen to me before." I said as my face started blushing and I dropped my head a little towards the floor.

"By the way, what's your name?" He asked, breaking the temporary silence.

"Uhhhmmm, the name's Kit." I said hesitantly.

"Kit. I like that." He chuckled, giving a small crack of a smile to his mouth.

"What about you?" I asked.

"Me? I'm Chris." He flashed a charismatic smile and wink.

I let a small laugh escape my mouth, to which we both started busting up in laughter.

"Hey, you wanna grab a bite with me, love? My treat."

I smiled.

"Sure, let me get changed real quick and I'll be right out."

Just then I realized that none of my brothers were around. As Chris went to go wait at his ride, I looked around for my brothers or even a note but nothing to be found. They must have gone out.

I ran upstairs and quickly threw on this,

and pulled my hair back into a messy ponytail

and pulled my hair back into a messy ponytail.

Just as I closed the front door behind me, Chris had already made his way to his means of transportation, to which he grabbed a helmet off of.

"Holy crap. Nice bike." I exclaimed pretty loudly in pure amazement, to which he chuckled and nervously rubbed the back of his neck once again.

"You-you a uh, fan?" He asked, his voice trailing off.
