Every morning was the same, until you met Michael. Your mother wakes you up, and she usually has to go the extra mile to get you out of bed, and you hate the world for not letting you sleep. This time, you shot up out of bed to quickly get dressed in time to talk to Michael before class. Your mother thought this behavior was unusual, but she didn't want to jinx it and decided not to question it. After getting dressed and grabbing a pop tart, you hurried out the door. As soon as you stepped on the sidewalk, you heard your name being called. You looked down the walkway to see Michael, about twelve houses down, standing in his driveway. "Michael!" you yelled as you ran down the sidewalk, nearly tripping over the shoelaces you forgot to tie. You jumped into a hug when you reached him, and he didn't hesitate to hug you back. "I missed you!" you said. "I missed you too (Y/N)!" he said back, still in a hug. After the dramatic greeting, the trip to school began.

"Hey (Y/N)?" Michael asked. You looked at him with bright eyes. "Why do you care about me? No one does." Your heart sank. "Because you're a good person Michael. You're you, and that's awesome. I've never met anyone that likes weird stuff like I do." You replied. Michael smiled and looked down at his bracelet, and then yours. "I'm never taking my bracelet off." he remarked. "I'm not either. Not ever." you replied. The trip to school ended as you two stepped into the entrance of the hallway. You had odd stares thrown your way as you were walking alongside the weird kid. You didn't care what anyone thought about you. You knew Michael was a good person and that's all that mattered to you. Also, it isn't like you had a reputation anyway considering that you were only 10. The bell rang, and you and your best friend parted ways.

You walked into your English class and sat in your usual desk. As the teacher lectured about the difference between adjectives and adverbs, you were thinking about Michael as usual. When the bell for next period rang, you speed walked to your art class and sat by Michael who was waiting for you. You plopped down into your seat and class began. Today's assignment was just drawing. You thought and thought until an idea spawned. You started doodling your masterpiece. With a black crayon, Michael drew a creepy looking guy with sharp teeth and a hat. Then he went to town with the red crayon. You drew yourself and Michael holding hands. As you were finally done, you turned it over and slid it to him. He quickly picked it up to look. You saw a neutral face coming from him which slowly turned into the biggest smile he's ever made. "That's me! And then that's you! I love it!" he said. He carefully folded the drawing into a square tiny enough to fit in his pocket.

The dismissal bell rang, and you and Michael started the walk home. You both chatted about the day at school. Michael said those boys left him alone all day, which made you feel at ease. All the sudden, Michael got silent for a while, until eventually asking a question. "Hey (Y/N)?" "Yes?" you said. "Can we get married when we grow up?" he asked. "Um, duh." you replied. Michael giggled and blushed, as did you. A moment later, you both were in front of Michael's house. "Well, bye (Y/N). I'll see you tomorrow." Michael sadly said. You were sad too. "Bye Michael.." You gave him a slow wave. You walked off until you gasped. "Wait! Michael!" you yelled down the sidewalk. "What?" he yelled in response. "Do you wanna go trick or treating tomorrow night?" you yelled. "Yeah!" he responded. "Okay cool!" you said before walking to your house. When you walked up to the front porch, there were fake spiderwebs and a giant skeleton greeting you. Your mother put up Halloween decorations before her shift that night. On the front door was the usual  note she would leave you before leaving for work.

"Hello my little pumpkin! I hope you like the new decorations. I know how much you love Halloween, so I thought you'd love the giant skeleton. Ha ha!I'm sorry for having to work on your favorite holiday baby. I promise that I will make it up to you. How about you go trick or treat with your little friend you walk to school with? I saw you run to hug him this morning. I'm so glad you have a friend now. Anywho, there's spaghetti in the fridge I made for you. Mama loves you!"

"Hell yeah. I'm going trick or treating with my future husband, AND spaghetti in the fridge? Life might not suck" you thought. After watching horror movies on the TV and eating your food, you took a bath and went to sleep.
