Gisela Aliz Schumacher
has always been second. Second to her father, Michael Schumacher, and second to her brother, Mick Schumacher. When Mick was guided towards karting as a kid, so was Gisela. Her whole life, she felt like she was the backup. The backup, after her father retired and suffered from his accident, the backup, for if something would happen to her brother. She never told anyone how she felt, she didn't want to ruin the fantastic relationship she had with Mick or with her sister, Gina-Maria, and break the family apart even more.
Hoping that her luck would once change, that some twist of fate would make her number one, even if it was just for a minute, she accepted the offer to join Haas F1 Team for the 2023 season. She saw driving alongside her brother as a dream come true, but also an opportunity for her to show that she wasn't just Schumacher number 2.
She was yearning to show the world that she could be number 1 too.
She just didn't expect to find someone along the way who would become her number 1.
