It was a bright and sunny day, the dirt and muddy roads indicating it rained all night, the petrichor still alive in the atmosphere making the day more lively.
People in the street are in hustle-bustle, some welcoming the bright day, some are happy and cheerful, and some faces tell this day better not be bad than the previous one.
The children being active and chirpy making the morning more lively. People making their ways to their respective works. This was all noticed by an old lady in her mid Sixties with a smile-plastered on her face, familiar with the emotions that all the passers-by are feeling.
Currently she is running an errand for herself making her way to the nearest convenience store and greeting the people mid way.
She entered the store grabbing the probably most necessary things as her grandson dearest would make a fuss in the morning for carrying unwanted things just by herself.
Standing in front of the cookies counter contemplating on whether to buy the cookies which are not so-sugar free, her diabetes condition not helping her either. Fighting the urge to buy it was gaining its own peak. She sighned put one pack of it in the cart with other items like coffee beans, and other savories, the flour were also being dragged towards the billing counter.
Stores are usually empty in the morning which she had a perk of not standing in long queues. She made her presence in billing counter, a young lady just behind her with varieties of bread and milk in her cart and busy furiously typing in her phone, with the scowl on her face can be told her morning was not good either, she was probably the age of her grandson or so she thought.
Sighning she raised her eyebrow at the old lady then averting her gaze. The old lady couldn't help but appreciate her beauty , yet the scowl was fading her beauty. Sighning from her thoughts she starts keeping the items from her cart to the billing counter table after seeing an employee coming. Greeting her he started scanning through the items on asking for payment option, being an old lady she carries cash everywhere around, giring up on her technical knowledge on how payment can be through the gadget.
The counter boy scanned through the items and said ,"Ma'am that would be 52$".
"Right, here you go " handing the cashier the cash. She muttered "I did not knew the price have almost doubled". This was heard by the young lady behind her back and with a quick analysis of the situation, she went behind the counter and watched the boy has, deliberately doubled the amount. Within a swift movement she grabbed his wrist, pinned behind his back and ducked him to the counter.
The boy whimpered in pain and asked, "What are you doing?" Leave me ".
"Why did you do that ?" she asked coldly. "let go" he groaned louder. This made her even angrier and she held it tighter.
The old women spoke telling , "Let him be, he is trying to tell the reason".
She finally let the boy go and sternly said, "You better have a reason for doing this or I will make sure you remain jobless your whole life". This tone and her words can make any one shiver. No one can escape this wrath of hers. Leaving him no option but to speak truth, he started speaking honestly, "I don't get paid enough as I was promised, this is the only way to pay my high school fees, even I don't want to do this, my situation lead me into this", he ended this with teary eyes.
The young lady asked, " So, you like to work? ". The boy was confused.
"YES, I love to work " he replied. " Would you like to work in a company ? ". It will pay you the amount you demanded but you have to be honest with it".
" Really ? Do you also work in it ? Will they allow me in a company ? Will i be working as an intern ? Does it need overtime working ?" He started bombarding with questions without realizing . When he realized he was embarrassed.
The lady let out a small chuckle and replied "You can start working from coming Monday and about your doubts , you'll get to know that later". She let out the company's business card handing over to him and ruffled his hair. He got all shy with this action . The card was written with bold letters as " NEVAH ... the fragrances" his lips turned upwards forming a smile.
"Now let's get working I'm already late", the young lady said bringing the boy out of his trance. "Yeah, coming ! " the boy beamed with happiness. Seeing this the old lady was more than happy. The boy returned the extra money to the old lady and did the billing of next beautiful lady. He definitely admires her a lot.
When the both ladies were out she called the young lady to her, the women turned around still with her shades tact, she raised a brow in questioning manner, the old lady approached her and said ,"Thank you for helping this old woman, she continued " I do not care about the money even if I had lost it but I do care about the act you did upon it" she said.
She held the hands of the young women and continued , " You are very beautiful inside out ". She replied with a small smile and a curt not.
"But how would you change suddenly when you were so angry that you would lash him out any minute ?" she finally asked the thing which was pondering her .
"I am a frequent here and I have been observing him since beginning he was always the hardworking despite his age, the money thing might have triggered him to take this wrong step, this was the only way," she replied with little to no emotion on her face and still with shades perched .
The old lady listening to this and said "You did a very good thing, may you get all the love in the world and a happy life".
Listening to the word "LOVE" she internally scoffed herself . 'The only thing which I can never get in this life'.
