It was through Becky's teenage years when they started to drift apart.
People around them also seemed to have slowly accepted Freen's difference as they matured. It came to a point where Freen became famous in school for her beauty and kindness. The older girl got more and more admirers and suitors, both males and females as they grew older, not that the younger didn't have a handful of her own. But this irked Becky a lot.
She hated how much attention the girl was getting. She hated how others naturally swarmed her, and Freen being Freen, she doesn't reprimand them or push them away.
It was also the time when Becky started to become more rebellious. She was a free soul and she hated being dictated and controlled, to the point where she started to always get mad at Freen. She hated how the girl was always telling her what to do. She disliked how she always corrected her and reminded her of what's right and wrong. She hated how she tries to help her by doing things before she asks of it. She doesn't like how overly protective the older is of her. She hated how Freen would always be around her. She felt like she had no freedom when the other girl is around. Where she went, the other follows.
That's when she started being rude to her. Freen would not stop bugging her, so she made it a point that the girl would stop following her around on her own.
She would casually insult her and humiliate her in front of other people. She would make it seem like she was disgusted of her. She would also sometimes deny her to people they meet. She would ignore her too. She would act like the girl was a total stranger, especially when they are out.
It became even worse when she found out that they are going to be engaged and Freen agreed to the ridiculous thing. She became furious, to the point where she really talked bad to her and insulted her big time, even saying that she is breaking off their friendship. But instead of being mad, Freen was the one who still apologized.
Marrying early was never in her plans, and she was determined to make sure that it never happens. She just had to make Freen back out no matter what happens. Starting that day, she made sure to make the girl's life with her a living hell.
There are a lot of instances where she knew she was already out of line, especially in the way she treated her, but Freen never lashed out on her. She never got mad. It's like she has an unlimited patience when it came to her. She accepted everything Becky did to her without complains and still continued sticking by her side, helping her with everything, taking care of her, protecting her, just being there for her when she needed someone to talk to.
It was ironic how Becky knew how much she needed Freen but she would never admit, and she would never make her feel it. She needs her so much even if she pushes her away. She sometimes even thinks that she only even does it because she knew she'll never leave anyway. Or so she thought...
