Dearest readers,

Why did you pick up this book? Personally, I will never know. You may have found the cover appealing or maybe it was the title. I quite like the font, though most find it boring. You should know, reader, that my brain thinks in Times New Roman size 12. Though please do not let this idle fact about the absurdity of my brain deter you from reading.

While cliche, this is not your normal book of poetry. While yes, there are prose, stanzas, themes - in my opinion, this differs.

Most books of poetry tend to follow a pattern. Whether that be a topic that all the poems reflect on or a selected style. This book does none of that. In fact, it is chaotic. Some poems connect, have similar themes, share a style - but no one poem is the same as another.

You might ponder "Well, no poem is the same as another." and you would be correct. However, while that truth remains, this book is positively everywhere. And don't let any English teacher convince you that I did it on purpose to create some sort of ambiance or great life reflection on the status of the human condition. (I am sorry teachers, but absurdism isn't the greatest theme to present to a struggling high school student who already questions life.)

I wrote this book like a journal, except I wrote poetry. Whether that be rhyming couplets or free verse, this book acts as an inner reflection of the world around and within me. Time passes quickly in this book, a span of three and a half years just within the first twenty poems. So consequently, it turned out to be chaotic.

I do hope you enjoy this. Laugh, cry, feel, sense. Grow old with me, for "My time is over: it is no longer my task to set things to rights, nor to help folk to do so. And as for you, my dear friends, you will need no help. You are grown up now. Grown indeed very high; among the great you are, and I have no longer any fear at all for any of you." - Gandalf the White.

Sincerely,

Your Author
