A Lighter Tone
I've often wondered why I feel like I could fly.
The laugh that ripples through the air, the curious way they sit in a chair.
Their smile is brighter than a full moon, the way that shirt hugs them in the afternoon.
I could sit in silence for hours, brushing their light hair into curly towers.
Or I could dance around the room, not caring that their singing resembles a loon.
When they're at their best, I cannot help but rest;
Basking in the radiant joy that extends from their soul to my ever weary heart,
Which, without them, takes its toll.
One-hundred and fifty miles of desperate separation couldn't keep me from my beautiful Starlight.
One-hundred and fifty miles of longing couldn't stop me from loving them, try as it might.
A lighter tone has filled the air, their essence seems to flow everywhere.
Harboring their joy in my heart and soul.
I need you, My Starlight.
It is you, who I shall forever extol.
