- Chapter 1 -"Mom please take your medications!" I stood beside my sick mothers bed pleading her to comply with the doctor's orders but she consistently refuses to take her tests. It pains me to see her suffering in pain but it's frustrating to try and force her to get her blood drawn "What's the point Blue I'm dying anyways."
I sighed sitting down on the edge of her hospital bed hugging myself for comfort "Don't think like that mother these doctors are working hard to help you..." she groans snatching the small container from the nurses hand that contained her antibiotics shoving them in her mouth.
The nurse hands her a cup of water in which she shoves back at the nurse when she's done drinking and crosses her arm across her chest grumbling I smile thanking the nurse as she left the room. "Why do you have to cause so much trouble mom?"
"I'm sorry for being a burden but I refuse to be treated like a dying patient!" she raises her voice I nod not wanting to upset her. Its been seven months since mother was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer every day is a struggle for her she's reached a point where she's giving up on her treatment.
Her doctor informed me that she had a low survival rate but I refuse to allow them to tell her that no matter how much she doubts please just don't tell her.
I sigh defeated with her stubbornness and reached over to hug her I place my head on top of her heart and listen to her slow rhythmic beats "I love you, mom." I closed my eyes falling into her comforted embrace "I love you more, muffin."
She ran her fingers through my short hair humming a soft tune to herself these are the moments I miss.
"Don't you fall asleep here Blue it smells like death go home." I snort at her remark and nod pulling away from her warm embrace feeling that same cold energy from earlier. I sat up from her bed and yawned mom looked up at me with a sad smile on her face. "Mom?"
"I just wish you didn't have to work so late to pay for my medical bill..." I immediately shook my head "Mom stop it was my decision." "You're a good boy, Blue." I gave her one last hug and left her room I noticed her doctor by the reception desk.
"Dr. Patel." he turns and greets me with a warm smile "How's Ms. Brooks feeling today?" I sigh "The same depressive feeling..." he places his hand on my shoulder "Don't worry Blue that's reasonable for her situation."
I nod understandingly "Dr how is her uh state looking?" he takes a glance at a clipboard and back at me smiling softly "There isn't change today but she is eating all her meals now."
"Thank you Dr. Patel for taking great care of her." he shook his head"Don't thank me Blue I'm simply doing my job, it's late you should get going."
"I'm leaving now, I'll stop by tomorrow." I waved at the lady at the reception desk and made my way to the elevator down to the underground parking garage.

I let out a long sigh as I locked my apartment door pressing my back against the door "Finally home..." I mumbled under my breath. I kicked my sneakers off and unzipped my jacket throwing it over to the side dragging my feet across my cold floor over to my couch.
I threw my body on the soft furniture and slowly closed my eyes instantly drifting off to sleep.
"Mmm coco can I rest just for five minutes." I waved her off. She meows licking my nose I groan tiredly slowly opening my eyes my alarm blurred causing cocos fur to jump up. I reached over to turn it off "9:30 p.m."
Time to work. I forced myself up allowing my feet to touch the cold wooden tiles. "Alexa play my shower playlist." The song "S.O.S" began to play I hummed along to the lyrics as I prepared for my shower.
"And I want it back, want it back~"
I lathered my body with lotion eyeing my clock making sure I was running on time. I squirmed into my leather skin tight bodysuit along with my short leather skirt. Coco walks around me rubbing her head against my leg purring "I know honey but I have to go!"
I pulled my trench coat ruffling up my hair "Alexa music off!" I called out before sprinting out of my apartment. I locked my door shoving my keys into my purse walking fast down the hall in hopes I make it to work on time.
-
"Blue you're late!" I nod "I-I know I had personal issues to deal with!" I unwrapped my trench coat "Is Lewis here?" My coworker and my bosses yes men Ben shook his head "You're lucky he's too busy taking care of the drunks in the lounge."
I smiled "Then I guess I wasn't late." I walked past him trailing my hand across his chest "Ye-Y-Yeah! You were right on time." I flashed him a smile and sped walked towards the bar.
I felt the music boom from the soles of my feet the lights flashed various colors the sounds of cheers and shouts rang in my head. Only been in for fifteen minutes and my heads already pounding.
I slipped to the back bumping into my dearest friend Kimberly "Oh! fuck- bluebird do me a favor try and take care of creepy critter over there!"
I sighed in defeat but complied I grabbed a shot glass filled with Vodka taking a large sip swallowing hard. "Leave me with the weirdos..." I muttered. I walked over to the counter and noticed the same usual creep Elliott I believe "Want company?" I seductively approached him.
Elliott looks up at me with a grin "From you? always" I bit down on my tongue flashing him my usual smile. "Blue right? what's a girl like you working in a place like this?" I sighed "Well..."
It's always been my dream to become a marine biologist but like people dreams grow old. I was adopted 15 years ago by my lovely mother Diane Jensen I am her only child her first son. I have vivid memories of my birth mother only that she named blue because of to her how peaceful I was yet she still gave me up.
My mother is a sick but stubborn woman she never stops fighting for what she believes in. "My son is a blessing in every way." is what she'd tell me constantly she cared for me and now it's my turn.
I'm a student by day and a bartender by night what more can I ask for. Now I have debts to pay off and my mother's medical bills. There's only so much money left...
"I'm just a guy looking for some adventure." I propped my arm up on the bar resting my head on my hand smiling softly.
