All six of the girls are shocked as they hear Aster announce Elena as the leader. Lucinda hugs her while she's still processing those words.

"Me? Leader?" Elena asks, thinking there might be a mistake.

"Yes, you. All those who had the fire element were the leaders of their group," Aster explains.

"This is great, El! You'll be-" Lucinda starts to say before she is interrupted.

"Her as a leader? Are you kidding me? Who's to say she won't lead us down the wrong path with that temper of hers?" Maya argues.

"What did you just say?" Elena growls.

"Maya, let's not do this right now, okay?" Hannah tells her.

"Hannah's right, Maya. It was decided the moment Aster chose her," Alice says.

Maya sighs, "Fine."

"Listen, whether you like it or not, you're now all connected to each other. You have to work together to stop the evil coming to Earth," Aster says.

"What 'evil' are we talking about exactly?" Ivy asks.

"You'll see. When the time comes to use your powers, just trust your instincts, and you'll figure out the rest. Remember to trust one another, and don't forget to keep all of this a secret. Good luck, girls!" Shard says before opening a portal and sending the girls through.

They're transported not too far from their school, and they all fall on top of each other, landing on the grass. They get up and separate into their friend groups.

"Let's recap. We have to stop some sort of evil from getting here, and to do that, we use our powers? Is this shit for real?" Elena scoffs.

"Seems like it," Lucinda says.

"Well, first things first. As a leader, you have to be the example," Maya says.

"Oh, really? What are you implying exactly?" Elena asks, clenching her fists.

"You need to stop swearing and start acting like a leader," Maya demands.

Elena scoffs and smirks, "Dream on."

Maya groans and is about to say something before Ivy places her hand in front of her.

"Alright, that's enough! We seriously don't have time for this! They told us we need to work together," Ivy explains.

"She's right. Fighting like this doesn't help," Hannah adds.

"Tell that to her! She's the one that keeps starting shit!" Lucinda says in defence of her best friend.

"Look, Maya. Will you cool it? Just let this leader thing go," Alice tells her.

Maya rolls her eyes, "Alright, fine. It's let go."

"Good, thank you. We obviously have a few things we need to sort out, but we need to find a place where we can freely talk about this," Alice says.

"I would suggest my shed, but it's full of crap and useless junk," Lucinda says, "but there might be another place actually..."

She looks at Elena with begging eyes.

"What?! But it's our place!" Elena argues.

"I know, but we don't have a choice, do we?" Lucinda says, sighing.

Elena groans and rolls her eyes, "Fine. I have a shed at my place. We can meet there after classes."

Before the others can say anything, Elena turns around and walks back to their school while Lucinda follows. Once they arrive, the bell rings, signalling the students to start heading to class. Lucinda and Elena grab their English books and head to their class. They take two seats at the back, and Lucinda leans toward Elena.
