"shuichi..." maki slightly tugged on their sleeve. saihara looked back at her, leaned back yet confused.

"what is it, harukawa~san? do you want to leave?" shuichi asked in worry.

"no, but you might." she pointed in a direction that saihara's eyes followed into utter dismay.

college isn't for everybody.

saihara wasn't so sure about college, but choosing between going straight into work or another few years of learning something new...of course they chose the second option.

thankfully his childhood best friend, harukawa maki, did too.

"i swear to god if my fucking suitcase opens again i'm killing the next person i see." she muttered in rage.

they were glad to have harukawa as a friend.

"don't let it be me, please." shuichi chuckled awkwardly, walking beside her.

and thankfully, they both chose to go to the same college because both were too much of introverts to make new friends.
and thankfully, maki's boyfriend was also going to the same college.

today was the two's first day to settle in, their actual first day of classes was tomorrow. they both shared a dormitory along with harukawa's boyfriend—and saihara knew him so, everything was cool.

"where did momota~kun say he'll be meeting us?" shuichi asked, taking one final step before looking up at the tall facility that was known to be 'hope's peak university.'

hope's peak university was the #1 university in the world. people from all over get selected by great, over-the-top-notch grades, skills, or good deeds. and, you had to be selected by the school itself. only one ordinary person gets to be selected into hope's peak each year by pure luck.

so, how did saihara and maki get into the best college of the world?

well, firstly, harukawa maki was excellent in combat and quite stealthy. she worked hard to donate to orphanages each year, while she lived in one herself until the age of 18 when she moved in with her boyfriend. hope's peak took note of her top-notch skills, grades, and public service. but what stood out about harukawa most was no one knew where she got the money from to donate, which somehow—hope's peak liked the mystery behind it.
saihara shuichi on the other hand, has a different story. coming from already a wealthy family, saihara lived with his uncle and cousin all their life. his uncle was a famous detective that took them in after shuichi's parents died; who was a famous actress and screenwriter. from that day on, saihara became his uncle's assistant—and the next heir to the famous 'saihara agency.' shuichi saved many animals and people, often given the name 'town-hero' back at home. however, saihara's grades and skills were a different story. shuichi's grades were okay—A and B student, always at the top #5 on the exams if he studied his socks off but...saihara didn't have many skills besides their detectives' intuition.
still, hope's peak university looked past that and entered the hero into the school. surprisingly, given how shuichi was an average person altogether.
