Dear Henry,It seems like a lifetime since we worked on cartoons together. Thirty years really slips away, doesn't it?If you're back in town, come visit the old workshop. There's something I need to show you.Your best pal, Joey Drew
Henry closed the door behind him as he stepped into the abandoned workshop, the old rotten wood floorboards creaking as he took his place."Alright, Joey... I'm here. Let's see if we can find what you wanted me to see." Henry spoke aloud to himself as if someone were to hear him. But given the studio's ambiance, he wouldn't be surprised if someone did.He began to walk around the studio, taking in all that changed within the last thirty years he was not there. The thing he immediately noticed was a projector that was left on. Nobody was here for what he knew, why was this on? It wasn't even rolling any film. He clicked the projector off. As soon as he did, the studio had an eerie silence to it.He started exploring the rest of the studio, taking in the rest of the change. The one thing he noticed was an overabundance of ink. It was everywhere! While this was an animation studio, this was a lot of ink. And it was abandoned now, why was there still so much? It was on the walls even. It wasn't even dried up, which was confusing.Henry kept wandering, seeing how run down everything else had become. He was surprised the building hadn't been torn down yet, given how rotted everything looked from both the inside and the outside. The outside of the building made it look as if it was barely being held together, having been through several cycles of rain and snow. It was a hazard to anyone who stood near it by this point.Henry followed along the corridors until he noticed a room labeled "Machine Room." This must be what Joey wanted him to see. He entered the room, sunlight shining through the broken boards in the ceiling. There was a lever in front of the railing inside the room. Henry walked to it, trying to pull it. It would not budge, however."This lift could use a few dry cells..." He spoke aloud to himself again, looking around for the dry cells to place in the lift power. He looked over to the left side of the room, finding a lift cell on a small shelf. He needed one more. He opened a chest located underneath the shelf, finding the second lift cell.Henry moved back over to the lift lever, placing the dry cells in their respective spots. The power was restored to the lever and he pulled it."Let's see what you're hiding down there, old friend."Chains attached to the rickety ceiling began to strain, pulling something up from the darkness beyond the railing. They rolled for a good minute, before revealing a large machine. Henry stared at it. Is this what Joey wanted him to see? Or was there more?Henry suddenly feels the compulsion to turn the machine on, to see what Joey really wanted him to see.else. Henry walked out of the machine room and head to look for other rooms within the studio. There were so many now, the studio had grown since he left all those years ago. Walls had been knocked down for so many new rooms, mainly this Ink Machine room.He went back into the main hallway and looked off to a now-open door to his right. That must be where he has to go to turn the machine on. He heads into the hallway, walking to the right. He goes towards what looks to be a room with machinery inside. Moments before he steps inside, a board falls from the ceiling.Henry steps inside the room, looking around slightly. There were 6 pedestals with pictures behind each one, and a lever in the back of the room which did not have power to it."Alright, how do I get this to work..." He mumbles to himself as he continues looking around.Henry assumes he has to find each of the pictured objects and bring them back to the room. A doll, an inkwell, a music record, a gear, a wrench, and a book.He recalls seeing a gear in the ink machine room and begins heading towards there. He walks out of the room. Immediately upon leaving the room, he is met with a Bendy cutout. This startles him instantly. (f in the chat he had a heart attack :pensive:)"Who put this here?!-" He looks around, seeing no trace of a person in the building. He touches the cutout to make sure he's not just seeing things. To no surprise, it was real. Henry sighs and turns to head to the ink machine room. However, another room catches his eye.He walks behind the Bendy cutout, heading into the room. In this room, was a life-sized carcass of the cartoon character Boris, strapped to a gurney with his ribs exposed. Inside his chest cavity was a wrench."Oh my god.... Joey... What were you doing?.." Henry stares at the dead cartoon in front of him for a good few minutes, before realizing the wrench he needs is inside the chest cavity. He reluctantly pulls it out and takes it before leaving the room to go grab the other things he needs. He heads for the ink machine room, grabbing the gear from inside. He next heads to the break room, which he remembers seeing the door closed to when he came in. It was now open. He goes inside, walks down the stairs, and looks around. He notices a book on a table pushed into a corner, picking it up. He noticed that it was apparently written by Joey, and was labeled "The Illusion of Living."He goes back up the stairs, noticing the room that has light shining from it. He goes over to that one next, but as soon as he reaches for the doorknob, the light kicks off. Henry still opens the door, looking inside. There was a radio set on a desk inside, and under the desk was the music record. He picks it up, then walks out to the main area of the studio. He heads over to the artists' desks to look for the inkwell that he needs.Off to the left were more artists' desks. Upon walking towards them, he notices a familiar one."Hey, here's my old desk..." Henry looks at his desk for a moment, looking at the concept sketch he had made of Bendy all those years ago. "I wasted so much time in that chair."He notices the room behind his desk, walking inside. The art department."Looks like they knocked down a wall or two after I left. Guess it took a few people to replace me." Henry notes. He notices the inkwell on a desk in the back of the room, going over to grab it. On the desk is an incomplete sketch of Bendy. Henry smiles seeing it, enjoying seeing how much the cartoon he and Joey created had improved.Henry looks at the items he's collected so far. Wrench, gear, book, record, and inkwell. He just needs the doll now. He begins looking for it, thinking it must be in the part of this floor he hadn't searched in yet. He walks back into the opened hallway, searching for the last item as he walks to the left this time. He notices an audio player on a table when he turns the corner. He presses play on it, curious as to what it was."At this point, I don't get what Joey's plan is for this company. The animations sure aren't being finished on time anymore, and I don't see why we need this... Machine. It's noisy, it's messy, and who needs that much ink anyway? Also, get this, Joey had each one of us donate something from our workstation. We put them on these little pedestals in the break room. To help appease the gods, Joey says. Keep things going. I think he's lost his mind but hey, he writes the checks. But I tell you what, if one more of these pipes burst, I'm outta here."Henry takes note of the items going on each of the pedestals in the break room, heading further down the hallway as he processes the audio recording. At the end of the hallway is a viewing room with a couple of chairs and a projector. There is also a pipe with a valve at the edge of the room.He sees the last item set down on one of the chairs, next to the projector. He grabs the doll, it squeaking as he does."Okay, that's all of them." He notes to himself, taking them back to the pedestal room. Upon reentering the room, he puts each item on its respective pedestal. The doll, the record, the inkwell, the gear, the wrench, and the book finally. The power to the machine seems to start up, but the lever still isn't responsive."I have to get the ink flowing somehow..." He notes to himself again. He remembers seeing the valve inside the viewing room, that must be what he has to turn to get the power to work. He begins to walk back. This time upon entering the hallway, a Bendy cutout pops up around the corner, startling Henry again. He goes around the corner to the room, seeing nobody inside. What the hell is even going on in here?He goes to the edge of the room, turning the valve. Upon doing so, a pipe bursts, spraying ink into the room and the projector kicks on, playing a looped animation of Bendy dancing and whistling.Henry trudges through the ink and once again heads back to the pedestal room. The lever is now responsive, and he flips it down. The lights suddenly lower in brightness and the ink pipes begin making noise. The machine must be on now.Henry heads for the ink machine room, walking a bit slower as he is a bit cautious about the lights being lowered.Once near the machine room, he notice the doorway has been boarded up. He shows confusion and walks to the doorway.Once he steps close to the doorway to pry the boards off, something pops up in the small opening the boards show and reaches out to grab at him. Henry falls back, scooting backward upon falling. He quickly stands up and the studio begins to flood with ink as the pipes leak dangerously. He gets on his feet, running for the exit while the ink levels rise.Henry makes a beeline for the exit, but mere moments before he is able to reach the door, the floor gives out from under him and he falls down several floors into a room flooded with ink.He stands up almost instantly after falling into the ink, somehow not harmed from falling so far down. He sees a pipe with a valve and trudges through the ink over to it, draining the room of the ink. He goes over to a door but notices right away that it's locked up tight. He turns around and begins heading further down, draining ink where he can.At the deepest layer of the flooded room, the ink is practically up to his chest. After draining all the ink, he enters another room, which has a boarded-up exit. Thankfully, there is a fire axe set on a workbench. He picks it up."This will definitely come in handy," Henry notes as he picks it up. He goes over to the boarded-up doorway and knocks the boards down, as well as any boards that are in the way. There is one more door that is boarded off, to which Henry knocks the boards off and opens the door.He immediately feels... uneasy. He goes into the room, beginning to shake. Once he walks to the center of the room, images flash into his vision and he drops the axe, blacks out, and collapses.
