HANNAH
He actually locked me in a bedroom.
Okay, well, I don't blame him. The moment the doors opened, I tried to make a run for it. Key word; tried.
I barely made it five feet away from the plane before a man snatched me. My attempts of getting out from his grip failed. It wasn't until he dropped me next to an indifferent Lev did I recognize the man. He's the one that seems the most latched to Lev.
"Thank you, Viktor," Lev spoke in Russian, finally giving the man a name.
I glared at Viktor while Lev gently tugged me into the tinted car waiting for us. Wanting to avoid Lev and simultaneously plan an escape, I narrowed my focus on the divider separating us from the driver. It was a few minutes later when Lev broke the silence.
"I enjoy being wrong about you, kukolka."
His voice held no emotion. But as my wide eyes slid to his, I couldn't help but notice that they weren't as soulless as usual.
Neither of us said nothing for thirty minutes while we drove beside thick forests and snowy mountains. There wasn't a single person outside.
Defeat demolished any hope I had when the car rolled to a stop in front of the tallest fence I'd ever seen. I could see the fence continuing all the way into the forests surrounding the plots of land. There was no end.
The gates opened, and it took another ten-minute drive until the car was put in park in front of a mansion—no, that wasn't the right word. It looked like a freaking palace.
The house probably rested on seventy acres of land, not including the surrounding fields of grass and forest. The walls were ivory, windows were everywhere. From here, it looked like three mansions combined to make one large home.
The door opened, and Lev stepped out first, not sparing me a glance. Viktor stopped in front and offered a hand, and I acted instinctively.
I supported my weight, lifted a foot and kicked his hand away.
That was the start of the foot war I had with Viktor. He tried to grab my ankle and failed. At one point, he bent down and gave me a cold stare. I nearly kicked his face, but he deflected the blow and tried to grab my ankle again. I started to laugh at the frustrated noise he made, but I ended up yelping in surprise when the door behind me opened.
The world blurred as someone wrenched me from the car. It wasn't until a few rapid blinks later that I realized everything turned upside down.
With one weak tilt, I saw the back of Lev's head as he furiously carried me over his shoulder. I was so dumbfounded I hadn't noticed the crowd of people watching us until he strode through the doorway.
Being upside down didn't agree with my empty stomach. I ended up being silent the entire time he hauled me upstairs, scared that if I said anything, vomit would follow.
He threw me on a bed a minute later. But as I sat up to throw some insults his way, he'd already strode to the exit. Since then, I hadn't seen him. Heck, I haven't seen anyone besides an elderly woman and a ghastly guard in the last twenty-four hours. She would drop off three meals a day, and the man would stay in the hall to make sure I had no means of escape—even though the door locked from the inside.
When I woke up the next day, I glanced at the large windows, trying to withhold my sadness. I couldn't differentiate the time. The skies were dark and cloudy, and so was I.
