'...It's so warm...'

I exhaled gently under my breath, nuzzling my body into whatever large and squishy object was positioned underneath of me. My hands glided along what felt like soft cotton, moving up and down the fabric and enjoying the comforting feeling of the texture against my skin. A small smile was pulling at the corners of my lips as I let my fingers explore. During that moment, I felt so comfortable. I was stuck in the haze that followed waking up from a deep sleep,  and was blissfully unaware of what I was doing.

Until the dots connected, and I realized what exactly it was that I had been touching.

I suddenly jumped up from the couch, my eyes opening wide as I stared down at the figure beneath me. It took a moment for them to adjust to the sight, but it's not like I really needed them to see who it was. Peter was laying on his back against the couch's armrest, one arm drooped over his face and the other hanging limply off the couch. His chest was rising and falling slowly, and he didn't seem to react at all to my sudden jerk.

'He... must still be asleep.'

I ran a hand through my messy hair, my lip curling a bit. How the hell did we manage to get like that, all cuddled up against one another? I could only assume that it happened naturally in my sleep; my body finding its way towards something warm and inviting. I didn't remember moving at all, but... it had been a really long couple of days. I probably would've been able to sleep through the Rapture in the state I was in. It must have just been an accident. Maybe not on his part, but most definitely on mine.

My eyes slightly narrowed as I looked down at Peter, studying what little parts of his face I could see past his arm. His lips were slightly parted as he breathed, and his eyes were closed tight. He was completely out of it.

I leaned a bit closer to him, taking in the little features of his face that I hadn't noticed before. When he was asleep like this, he looked so... harmless. Like he couldn't hurt a fly. I had said it before when we first met, it wasn't like he was an unattractive person. If he wasn't staring at you with that creepy expression, then it wouldn't be a lie to call him handsome. He had deep, mesmerizing eyes and a smile that could make a girl melt. And when he spoke, his tone was alluring and smooth, like a voice actor in some kind of ASMR video. I could listen to somebody like that talk for hours.

I reached my hand forward, abruptly stopping before I could make contact with his cheek. I had to stop and remind myself who exactly I was looking at right now. This was the monster who had kidnapped me. The monster who beat my friend within an inch of their life. How he looked and sounded didn't matter.

'...if only you were normal, Peter.'

I sighed, shaking my head back and forth. Just as I was about to pull my hand away from him, Peter's eyes suddenly opened, and we stared at each other like deer caught in headlights.

"Darling... good morning." He said after a moment, his cheeks turning a soft red as a smile crept onto his lips, "...What are you doing?"

"Ah! N-Nothing!" I stammered loudly, stumbling backward while waving my hands dismissively, "I was j-just waking up. That's all."

Inside my head, I was screaming. Of course he'd wake up right then! God, what kind of shitty luck was I having this week?!

Peter smiled, sitting up and rubbing a hand against his tired eyes. "If you say so, Y/n. I'm not complaining or anything. Who wouldn't enjoy waking up staring into the eyes of somebody as beautiful as you?"
