Tick.. Tock.. Tick.. Tock.. Tick.. Tock..

The echoing sound of the clock's ticking reverberates in the heart of her room, a sound that may irritate some, yet it instills a profound sense of serenity within her.

Gazing at her reflection in the mirror, a look of self-adoration that she doesn't hide. Some may perceive it as narcissism, but in truth, it's merely an acknowledgment of her own beauty and the right to be appreciated.

At least, in her own eyes...

Reaching for the lipstick on the table, she takes a deep breath, synchronizing her rhythm with the steady tick-tock of the clock.
A sense of calm envelops her as she applies the lipstick, leaving a touch of elegance on her lips.

As she puts the finishing touches on her makeup, her phone vibrates on the bed, announcing the arrival of a notification.

She didn't pay much attention to it. In any case, she would check her phone once she got into the taxi on her way to work.

Dressed in a timeless white shirt and high-waisted black trousers, she completed her look with comfortable black wide-heeled shoes. Unlike pointed heels, which she avoided during long working hours; she cared about her elegance but not at the expense of her comfort.

Her small pearl earrings adorned her ears, adding a touch of sophistication to her look. She prefers to keep things subtle, so she avoided overpowering perfumes, opting for the gentle fragrance of jasmine and musk from her own body lotion .

Indeed, that's how she lived her life—embracing simplicity, exuding elegance, and always prioritizing her comfort above all. Her style reflected her personality, a harmonious blend of grace and practicality.

She grabbed her bag and phone and stepped out of her room, finding her parents seated at the breakfast table. Her father was deeply engrossed in the latest political news, a sharp contrast to her mother, who had a profound love for music and art. She couldn't help but wonder how these two vastly different personalities ended up getting married.

She was skeptical of the theory that opposites attract. Sure, some differences could be desirable, but not someone completely opposite. After all, they weren't just magnetic poles!

"Are you leaving now, my dear?" Her mother's attention turned to her as she prepared a cup of tea for her.

"Yes, I have to leave now."

"Sit down and have your breakfast first."

"I can't, I told you I'm on a diet!"

Her mother sighed with irritation and added, "Cat, have your breakfast. It's just a sandwich; it won't ruin your diet. Or do you want to starve under the name of a diet?!"

Of course, this wasn't the first time she had this argument with her mother. It had become routine, so she didn't pay much attention and just nodded to save herself time and effort.

"I'll have it on the way; I can't get caught in the traffic rush."

"Call me if anything urgent happens, please be careful while crossing the street."

"Mom, it's not my first time going out. I'm 24 years old! And this is my second year working!!"

"Even so, you'll always be my little girl."

She rolled her eyes but smiled, kissed her mother's cheek, said her goodbyes to her father, who was not the type to express concern for his daughter, but always reminded her to go and come back safely.

As she stepped out of the house, the taxi had already arrived. This time, a young man in his early twenties was behind the wheel. Typically, she wasn't keen on riding with young male drivers, but she had chosen this driver through a reputable app, where all his details were transparent, a precaution she always took as her father instructed.
