“Are you sure you’re okay Jewls? That break up was pretty brutal” Jack asked, he may be one of my best friends, but does he have to be so harsh about something so sensitive?
“I’m fine Jack, thanks” I said through gritted teeth, the way I always do when Jack starts to go too far.
“You sure? I mean, you two were together for almost a year, you fell for him pretty hard…You two were about to-“
“Okay Jack, that’s enough” Matt said, covering Jacks mouth.
I silently thanked Matt with my eyes and he winked at me, acknowledging my gratitude.
“Jack, why can’t you just keep your mouth shut, huh?” My best friend Janet asked, shaking her head.
“Guys, why can’t we just enjoy the rest of lunch without bringing he who must not be named up?” I asked, borrowing my head in my crossed arms on the table, my eyes peeking up at them.
“Sorry Jewliet, I’m just really concerned for you” Jack said, sincerity in his eyes.
“I understand Jack, but I’m just trying to forget him, after all….He never really loved me, he was just playing me, so why should I let this get to me?” I replied, painfully smiling at the thought of him.
A blond headed girl that had a quirky smile on her face and a preppy bounce in her step strutted by our table, winked at Matt , carrying her trash to the trash can about five feet away from our table. She bumped into me, making my water bottle fly out of my hands , the water sprayed all over Jack and fell on Matt’s book bag, drenching both Jack and Matt’s school supplies.
Janet started laughing as I stared at them for a moment then busted out laughing; my head instantly went down, into my jacket. Matt started laughing too, trying to save his bag but failing miserably. Jack looked mad and was grabbing napkins frantically and dabbing at his cloths, the poor thin napkins doing basically nothing for his wet cloths.
“Fail!” I squealed in between uncontrollable laughter.
“Remind me to duck every time a girl tries to flirt with my bubbly buddy over here” Jack said, still upset about his wet cloths and pathetically dabbing at his shirt as he motioned with his elbow to Matt.
“Awww, quit being a sore loser Jack, that was just too funny.” Janet said, chuckling.
“If it makes you feel any better, I’m sorry for this inconvenient moment” I said mockingly.
“Thanks, but this does nothing for my wet cloths” Jack replied, pouting
“This is why cheerleaders should come with warning signs on their whorish cleavage, so maybe guys would see that their brainless, clumsy bimbos and go for girls like me and Jewls. Smart, sophisticated, sexy women.” Janet said matter-of-fact.
We all just stared at her, our mouths slightly agape at her outburst.
I grabbed her shoulder, my eyes darting back and forth “Janet, you better go hide, you might find yourself face down on the bleachers with pom-poms shoved down your throat.” I said, faking fear.
“Well, at least that’s the only thing to be shove down my throat.” Janet replied, showing her strong dislike for cheerleaders.
“Geez Jan, you are dark today” Matt said, putting his book up to his face, his eyes peeking out from the top “Please, don’t kill me just because I’m on the football team.”
“Oh, don’t get me started on the football team” Janet said, rolling her eyes
“You mean just because they wear tights, shower together, slap each other on their butts, and spend practically every day together doesn’t mean their gay….I mean, why would you say such a thing Janet!” I said, jokingly
