________________________________

Maria had, at first, wanted to go to the DV with Elena, Alex, and Dr. Berkowitz to see if Elena aced her driver's test. But, for some reason, Maria woke up with an odd feeling that day. Like she knew something was going to go wrong.

It was one of those days where Maria wanted to do practically nothing until the feeling passed. So, she told Alex and Elena she wasn't feeling that well and she'd see them when they went back home.

She spent most of her day cleaning and rearranging her room, and when she had nothing else to do she asked Schneider if she could go to the library. She liked being surrounded by the, mostly, quiet atmosphere along with all of the books and sweet librarians.

When she got back to the apartment complex, she realized that Elena and Alex must've been home by then. So, instead of returning to her home, she headed straight towards the Alvarez household. She smiled as she entered, placing her bag on the chair.

"Elena, how did it go?" She asked quickly, seeing how Elena's eyes immediately lit up at the question.

"I got it! I got my provisional driver's license!" She squealed as Maria wrapped her arms around her neck.

"I'm so proud of you, Elena!" Maria beamed, pulling away from her. "We all knew you could do it!" Elena smiled brightly, a small blush covering her cheeks. She was awkward when it came to compliments, especially compliments from Maria even though she handed them out so often.

"So much to celebrate," Alex announced, appearing from the kitchen with a bottle of sparkling cider. He smiled at Maria, motioning for her to sit beside him.

"Sparkling cider?" Elena asked, her eyebrow raising slightly.

"Yep, and I sprung for the good stuff," Alex smirked, as Penelope handed him, Maria, and Elena cups for the cider.

"Ahh. Martinelli's? Ooh, we're gonna party like slightly rebellious Mormons. Thank you, Alex." She smiled with a slight celebratory dance.

"I knew you would pass. Why do you think it's chilled?" Elena's face softened, her lip turning into a pout. Her expression read "aww, thank you" and it made Maria giggle softly.

"Alex. No, I really couldn't have done this without you. You were there for me and..." Suddenly Alex pulled the cork out of the cider, spraying it over his shirt and elbowing Elena in the boob in the process. "Ow!" Elena exclaimed, her eyes squeezing shut in pain.

"Oh, my God!" Alex shrieked, Maria's eyes grew wide as she looked at the two.

"Oh, don't worry. It's okay." Elena said reassuringly, wincing in pain slightly. Alex quickly placed the bottle and the bottle opener down on the coffee table.

"No, my shirt! I need to wash it before it stains." Alex yelled, scrambling to stand and running out of the room, Maria following closely after him. She wanted to make sure he was okay, and that he didn't slip and fall while running to the laundry room.

"Alex, slow down and it will be easier." Maria giggled slightly as he struggled to pull his shirt off. He said something, although it was muffled by his shirt, stumbling back into the small island in the middle of the room.

"Ow!" Suddenly the two froze until they slowly looked around the counter. Maria felt as if she were on a roller coaster, right at the tip of the hill and then quickly falling down it. Her stomach dropped, her eyes widening as she gulped.
