• One year later •
I can't believe Gina is getting married but here we are, waiting for the big event in Italy. Classy as she is, she chose to have her wedding in Italy with hundreds of people. Her soon to be husband is a good man and I couldn't be happier for her.
As I'm walking down the hotel lobby in my sparkly designer dress the sound of my heels clicking against the floor echoes through the room.
"Signorina," the concierge says, opening the door for me with a charming smile.
I nod before exiting the hotel and only moments later I am inside the car, on my way to the party.
The trip is more stressful than I would have liked on the day of my best friend's wedding. I make a few phone calls to my business partners to clarify a few things. Work couldn't be better and, above all, it's mostly legal. Of course, I closed down all of Luigi's cruel, exploitative businesses, but I may not have kept everything legal.
It's not only paying off financially but also I'm actually into it. Turns out I missed this kind of thrill. The kind of adrenaline rush you simply don't get through doing laundry and cooking steak.
I'm neither missing being a housewife, nor being married and I'm glad I got to chose, finally.
For the first time in my life I'm happy by myself and I got to know me better over the past year. The car stops and with a look through the window I can see the castle for the first time. It's beautiful and just so... Gina.
I thank the driver before I open the door and get out of the black limousine.

The ceremony was beautiful and the party that just started will probably last for a very, very long time.
I down my rum and let Gina twirl with my hand holding hers over our heads. We're already drunk and having fun on the dance floor. Her groom watches us with a grin as he talks to his best man.
All the spinning makes me dizzy, so I separate from Gina and say, "Wait, wait, babe, I have to put my glass down!"
I see Liam coming towards us, catching the slightly swaying Gina and kissing her deeply before I turn around and make my way to the bar. I place the glass on the counter and since my best friend is in good hands and everything is spinning, I decide to freshen up in the bathroom.
In an exceptionally good mood, I walk through the hallway and enter the bathroom. I find a mirror and rummage around in my purse.
Perfume, gun, gum... ah, yes. There it is.
I take out my lipstick and apply the color to my lips.
I hear flushing in the background, but I'm busy trying not to paint my whole face red. Only after the stranger washes his hands and obviously notices me, considering I hear a throat clearing, I stop reapplying my makeup.
The voice is far too deep for a woman. I furrow my brows."I hope this is a bad fucking joke! That's the women's bathroom you perverted-" I start in dismay as I turn around. When I see the man, I fall silent and my lipstick goes to the floor with a clatter.
"Avan?!" My mouth stays open and I take a step back immediately.
He humms, then takes his sweet time to let his dark eyes wander from my shoes to my face, taking in every curve.
"Sophia." He says, surprised but not pleased to see me.
I gulp, feeling caught off guard.
What is he doing here?
