5. btw... i made a mistake

Through the whole movie, I couldn't help but think about Levi. I barely even knew what was happening on the screen. Every time I thought about him, butterflies started to flutter in my stomach.

I was disappointed to think further into the future, though. Sure, it was all great now, but come a few years, maybe even one, it would all end. Levi wouldn't want me anymore and he'd move on to someone new.

Before I knew it, the movie was over and everyone piled out of the theater. 

"Oh my gosh, that has to be my new favorite movie." Sasha enthused, skipping ahead of all of us. "What'd you guys think?"

"It was great!" Historia smiled with a nod from Ymir.

"Yeah, it was good." I nodded. We walked to Jean's car and got in. In all honesty, I don't even know what the movie was about.

"What should we do now?" He asked pulling out of the parking lot. They all talked about what they wanted to do while I sat in silence, head against the window.

I don't know why I was getting so upset, I could find someone else too. Something about him just pulled me in though and I couldn't seem to break free of this hold he had on me.

"Is that fine with you, Eren?" Sasha asked snapping me out of my trance.

"Huh?" They were all looking at me. "Uh, yeah, that sounds good."

I hadn't even heard what they said, but before I knew it, we were at a lake.

Sasha and Connie were first out of the car, sprinting towards the dock as soon as they got the chance. With a large splash, both jumped into the green water fully clothed.

"Whoo!" Sasha cheered. "The water feels great!"

The rest of us got out of the car and walked towards the water. I looked down at them, skeptical of the murky water. Last time I was in a lake, a leach attached to my foot and I couldn't get it off.

"Get in!" Connie laughed motioning his hands. Historia was the next one to jump followed directly by Ymir. Jean look over at me and tilted his head towards the water as if telling me to jump first.

"You go first, horse-face." I shook my head and crossed my arms.

Everyone laughed at the name.

"Horse-face, huh?" He chuckled and slowly walked towards me. Before I knew it, he had me in a tight hug. I was confused at first until he jumped into the water, taking me with him.

I swam to the surface and waited for him to as well. As soon as he came up for air, I dunked his head back under as a way of payback.

We all laughed. I'd never had this much fun with my old friends and we were only ten minutes in.

Snapping me out of my thoughts, Jean wrapped his arms around me and tossed me over his head and into the water.

"Just kiss already!" Ymir shouted when I came up for air. Me and Jean slowly turned our heads to give each other an awkward glance.

Looking at him, he was pretty cute. But Levi. I don't know why I felt the urge to be loyal to him when we hooked up once but I did. But he was my dads co-worker and Jean was my age. So really, who was the better choice?

After we stared at each other for a second, he swam away, the level of awkward too large to bear. I frowned before following him towards the group.

"Eren's got daddy's co-worker already." Sasha teased and shrugged her shoulders excitedly. I could physically feel my cheeks blush as I looked away.

"Ah!" Historia screamed and starting splashing around. "Something just touched my foot!"

"It's just a fish." Ymir grabbed her arms to stop the splashing and pulled her in closer. I watched in awe wanting a relationship like theirs. It was little things like acts of kindness or calmness that had something to sweet and special to it. Even a text good morning could make me feel like the luckiest person in the world, yet I've never got one that wasn't from my mom.

"Yo, Eren!" Connie snapped his fingers in front of my face, pulling me out of my trance. "Why do you keep zoning out, man?"

"Nothing." I splashed him in the face and swam away, him chasing after me. Once he caught up — I'm a very slow swimmer —, he dunked me under the water. "Fuck you." I spat some lake water out of my mouth and flipped him off.

"No thanks."

"Who wants a beer?" Ymir called.

I was the last one in the car after Jean dropped off Sasha. It was just me and Jean, Jean and me. The car ride was silent as we drove up the long hill to my house.

He pulled into the driveway but I shut the door as soon as I opened it. "Jean?"

"Yeah, what's up?"

"Do you want to go back to your place?" I didn't know what I was asking, my mind completely blank. "I don't want to be alone tonight."

"Y-yeah, sure." He nodded and put the car in reverse. He pulled back out of the driveway and started towards his apartment.

I looked over at him, leaning my head back against the seat. "Thanks, horseface."

He scoffed and shook his head keeping his eye on the road.

The drive went silent after that. I could tell he was nervous though and probably confused. I would be too in his situation. After all, I had just told him and the others about sleeping with my dads co-worker.

Before I knew it, we were parking behind a red brick building and Jean was helping me out of the car.

The next morning, I woke up to my phone buzzing against my chest. I groaned, picking it up and looking at the screen.

All tiredness fled from my body as I saw who was calling me.

"Levi?"

"Come over, right now." He spoke into the phone. "I want you."

And with that, he hung up the phone and I was left staring at my lock screen. It was five in the morning, still dark outside, and the only sound I could hear was the slight drizzle of rain outside and soft breathing next to me.

Suddenly it hit me: I had sex with Jean Kirstein. I don't know what came over me yesterday night but I had made a huge mistake.
