Sooo uhhh I think I should put like a warning here cuz like every story has some trauma or past that haunts the character sooooo and its not like anything extreme its just more of a mental struggle of feeling very unloved and such.... and I sorta tried hinting at it in the first chapter soooooooooooooooooo uhhhhhh enjoy?

Mama was mad again; I went to the forest for the 3rd time this week. It was only Tuesday. Everything in that forest terrified me but still, it was better than home. home was dark, it felt hollow. nothing compared to what ideal families on the scroll I had seen. Home felt more like a stranger's house I was a resident of. So the forest no matter how scary felt better than home.
I headed to the hideout, as I approached I let out 4 whistled tones (think hunger games) to be carried forward by the wind. I smiled as a moment later I received 4 mimicked tones back. I smiled knowing I would have someone to talk to; instead of wreaking havoc with my magic again.
Talking with Raine went across the spectrum in possible topics of conversation. jumping from one to another seamlessly and coming back to old topics as a new thought occurred. Well I talked mostly but Raine listened. If I found a topic he was passionate about he would talk just as much. It was a fun little challenge to try and get him to talk about things he found interesting.
Todays topic of intrigue for us both this day was school. summer was about ended and we had been registered for school. We ended talking about what classes we wanted to go into Raine wanted to be in the bard classes, and I wanted to be an illusionist (for plot purposes I swear) it seemed we would both be going to Bonesburro school of academics mostly because it was the closest

Many days came and went chatting within the hideout for y/n and Raine. as the date approached it seemed as though y/n was facing an internal struggle. fearing parting from her best and only friend.
Raine pov
"It's cool isn't it!?!!" Raine exclaimed showing y/n the new trick he'd mastered, that's when Raine released y/n's enthusiasm and wonder had mellowed out as of late. Normally you'd be exclaiming with eyes full of stars and a bright smile. that could even light the hideout on the cloudiest of days, but here you were spacing out head towards the ground as you sat playing with some loose dirt making random doodles in front of you.
"y/n is something wrong?" Raine asked, gently tapping your shoulder.
"Oh nothing" y/n replies with a startled jump in surprise
"Ok then what did you think of that trick?" Raine inquired
"Uhhhhh I duno" y/n said sheepishly
"See you weren't even paying attention what is wrong y/n and don't you dare lie to me friends don't do that! remember we said we'd tell each other everything" Raine said worried and with a slight frown.
"Uhhhh wellll.... What if we can't hangout anymore because I'll be in the illusionist class and you'll be in the bard class" y/n said with a frown in turn
"Well I believe you can accomplish all the classes magic through music." he said "have you seen what top-ter musicians can do?" he said that sentence with a little more excitement before his next words were filled with passion and determination "if you'd like you can change your illusions through bard magic. heck! you could even do that plant stuff" (I know this isn't necessarily true but let's make it so because for the story to match the title it needs to be. so like author intervention! bard magic way to cheat coven seals!)"we can learn together!" he says as he faces the exit to the hideout turning around and grabbing both your wrists and pulling you to your feet
"What instrument do you want to try learning?" raine questioned you
"Hummm what about a violin? or maybe a cello?" you replied after a bit of thought
"How About the violin?" raine said
"Alright, we'll learn the violin together!" y/n said in excitement
"Don't worry y/n I'll be yours forever" Raine said "I'll swear to it best friends forever"
"Best friends forever" you echoed
