Q. Do I have to join the Discord server if I am accepted as a member of PrideReads?
➜ All our members are required to join our private Discord server in order to communicate and discuss things with other members. Our members are not, however, required to join our public server if they don't want to. Although we do recommend joining both!
Q. Do I have to be LGBTQ+ or write LGBTQ+ books to be accepted as a member of PrideReads?
➜ Absolutely not, we're open to all! Anyone who wants to apply is more than welcome no matter how they identify or what they write (if they even write at all). The only people we will not accept are anyone who discriminates against others for who they are.
Q. Do I have to be 16 to apply?
➜ Yes, all applicants must be 16 or at the very least, turning 16 within one month of your application. The only exception we will make is for those special users who are hand-picked by our staff and deemed mature enough to handle the responsibility that comes with being a community member.
Q. How do I know when you're hiring?
➜ You can see if we are currently hiring by checking the "recruitment" section of our profile bio, in the "Join Us" chapter of our guidebook, or by keeping an eye on our message board. Alternatively, our application form link is always available at the bottom of our bio and when we are not accepting applications, the form will state so and won't allow responses.
Q. Do I need to have a certain amount of followers to apply?
➜ Not at all! Whether you have 5 followers or 500, all are welcome to apply. Your number of followers will not affect your chances of being accepted!
Q. I wasn't accepted before, can I re-apply now?
➜ You are more than welcome to re-apply if you didn't get through last time! All we ask is that you don't keep re-applying in a short period of time (i.e. try not to apply multiple times within one recruitment period).
Q. Do I have to give you any personal information when I apply?
➜ Nope! We don't ask for anything personal from you other than your age, which won't be shared outside your application.
Q. What if I am accepted but decide I don't want to be a member anymore?
➜ No worries, if you'd like to resign just let our admin know! There is no time requirement for your membership. If you join and then decide it's not for you, you're more than welcome to leave. They'll be no hard feelings so long as you inform an admin of your decision first.
Q. I was a member before but I resigned, can I re-apply?
➜ Everyone is welcome to re-apply, including our past members. If you had to leave for a little while but now want to come back just fill out a new form! If our forms aren't open you are also welcome to reach out to us here or directly to plutointhestars about regaining your position. Please note that if you mess us around by joining and leaving repeatedly, you will be barred from applying again.
Q. How long does it normally take for my application to join to be reviewed?
➜ We try to review all applications (and reading list submissions) within a day or two. But, in busier periods it could take anywhere up to a week. Although that is a worst-case scenario as we usually review and respond to applications within a 48 hour period.
Q. I filled a member form, and I was wondering (if I get accepted) where I'd receive the acceptance message from. Would I receive it here on Wattpad, or I'd be sent an email or...?
➜ We will review all applications as soon as possible and will always contact applicants with their results here on Wattpad.
