The autumn sun was already low. The still warm rays illuminated the sublime palace of Solaria in a deep orange. The colored trees lined the long way to the golden castle doors. Several soldiers in white cloaks greeted the citizens of Solaria who were making their way down the avenue. Thousands of visitors were expected today. It wasn't long before the palace square was filled with large crowds. The atmosphere was upbeat, and the citizens were already excited about what the royal family had planned for this special occasion. In exactly one week it was Halloween, and the annual Purge Feast was coming up. The greatest festivity in the entire Differentworld.
The magical world was not what one might imagine from fairy tale books. For the magic of this world has been overshadowed by cruel myths and beliefs. Thus, the inhabitants of the Differentworld believed that every magical being descended from the devil. Fairies sent by the devil to pollute the pure souls of the citizens. Fairies born with the ability to plunge humanity into endless chaos. Fairies that had to be sent back to where they came from: the fire. Or in other words: Fairies had to be killed at all costs to protect the commoners.
For this important task, elite units are trained to stop the fairies: the specialists. But among the residents there is a saying that the specialists are anointed by angels to deal with the dangers that the job entails. Who else should stop the devil if not the angel himself?
And today the big festival on the castle grounds will be announced. The 555th anniversary of the Purge Festival. And this annual celebration should probably be the most exciting of all annual festivities. After all, the annual celebration is accompanied by an angel number. It is known in the myth of the angel numbers that the presence of five suggests that major changes could be on the horizon. The five should be a good omen for the people and the specialists. This year they would hit a big hit against the fairies.
The large crowd stared sincerely at the stage, which was right in front of the back of the castle. The last rays of the sun squeezed between the mountain tops. The audience fell silent as suddenly soft music erupted from the orchestra. Every citizen knew the following song. The Battle Hymn of the Specialists. As if the Solarians had paid the sun to turn off their lights at just the right moment, Queen Luna took the stage as the entire palace garden lay in shadow and the glaring lights switched on to the battle hymn's closing tune. The lights reflected off the queen's rich robes. Her pale skin was covered in a dark gold tone fabric that reached to the floor. The dress accentuated her defined upper body and flared out from her hips with layers of tulle. The long sleeves were encased in a transparent gold fabric that hung loose. Her dark brown loose hair was kept out of her face with the help of her glossy crown. She was godlike in appearance, and she knew it. Queen Luna stepped onto the stage with an elegance that no other human could exude. She wasn't dubbed the Queen of the Sun for nothing, and she certainly didn't have to prove that she lived up to the title.
Within a few decisive steps, Queen Luna stood in front of the marble lectern with a golden microphone. On the front was the logo of the Solarian Crown and the Specialists combined. A large crown in the shape of a setting sun was surrounded by angel wings. Above the crown were two crossed swords that connected the wings together. Queen Luna raised a hand in determination and the people fell in silence. The music stopped. Now half Solaria clung to the red lips of the Queen.
"Welcome to the 555th annual Purge Feast!" Luna's angelic voice came through the speakers. The queen didn't have to say more because her people applauded and cheered. The inhabitants of the world could hardly wait for the start, because every killed fairy meant a better life. But the big question was what was planned for this year. And for that, Queen Luna wanted the attention of every citizen of Solaria. Not only was the whole courtyard filled with people – but her performance was broadcast across the Differentworld right now, using holograms. She raised her hand again, as she had done a few minutes earlier. As if on command, the clapping noises and cheers fell silent.
