Medusa's daughter

In ancient times, where myths abide,
A tale of love and pain resides.
Of Medusa, cursed with snakes for hair,
Whose death would lead to sorrow's snare.

By Athena's hand, Medusa fell,
The Gorgon's life, a tragic spell.
But little known was something yet,
A hidden secret none would vet.

For from Medusa's mortal kin,
A daughter dwelled, untouched by sin.
Within Athena's arms she grew,
Unseen by mortals, only a few.

With grace and beauty she did glow,
A radiant soul that seemed to show.
Enchanted hearts, they all succumbed,
To her allure, their senses numbed.

But ignorance's curtain fell,
As whispers spread through mortal's shell.
Her lineage cursed, her blood defiled,
They deemed her unworthy and reviled.

With hatred's blaze and ruthless might,
They snuffed her life, a wicked blight.
Her head they severed, flames ablaze,
On stick it perched, ignoble days.

Now Athena wept, her heartstrings torn,
For love's sweet daughter, now forlorn.
An innocent soul, lost to hate,
A punishing twist of cruel fate.

For beauty's child, condemned by birth,
Was fated to endure such mirth.
Yet in their ignorance, they failed to see,
Love's true essence, its purity.

So as we retell this mournful tale,
Let empathy and understanding prevail.
May we learn from this tragic past,
To cherish love and break hate's fast.

For in our hearts, we hold the key,
To end the cycle of agony.
Let us embrace, with open arms,
A world where love, not judgment, harms.
