Day One

My name is Charlie slimecicle. It's really the only memory I have to call my own. The truth is, I don't remember anything. Anything before now that is. I'm in a tube of some sort. Am I a... test subject? Whatever, not important. What's important is not drowning. I bang on the glass of the tube. I bang and bang and bang until it breaks. I start to frantically pace around the room as I wonder what to do. Finally, much to my displeasure, I step out of the room...

Outside, I hear a cacophony of screams. The screams of things that were maybe human once, but no longer are. That much is obvious just by looking at them. Suddenly, a boney, rotting hand breaks through the glass I was looking through. It viciously scratches my face, not enough to be a lasting scar but enough to leave a mark.

"Oh no, oh no, OH GOD!!"
I scream as I'm tailed though the narrow corridors by the zombies.

eventually, I reach a ladder and start to climb. I sock the zombie at the top and dash to a nearby building.

"I hear a zombie in this house..." I carefully say, finding an exit whilst trying my best not to alert a zombie to where I am.

I dive out of a window into a nearby tree. I get some wood while the howls of undead creatures persist.

"WHERE, WHERE, WHERE?" I chant, scanning the area to see where the zombie noises are coming from.

"Why won't they fucking stop???" I question as I aquire some stone tools.

Why wont the noises stop? I dont even see any zombies! As I move from the open to the woods, I see zombies banging on the oak doors, clearly unable to break through. As the sun begins to set, it's starting to become more and more evident that I need a place to stay. I don't want to be in the city, there's too many zombies literally everywhere.

"Maybe I could stay in the subway...?" I slowly ponder aloud, peeking into the underground passage.

"NOPE!" I say, instantly retracting my query at the sight of zombies spewing out from the path.

"I should get to the top of something!," I say.

There's no escaping the city today; might as well accept that. I scale the stairs of the nearest building, and, at the sight of a zombie trying to follow me, set up a temporary camp on the roof. That helped mentally, not physically, as I learned of good news and bad news. The good news was that I found out what attracted them: light and sound. The bad news on the other hand was that they were attracted to light and sound, which I'm actively giving off at night. I block the entrance to the roof and, by proxy, my exit. I have only one thought before I drift off into a dreamless sleep.

"How did things get so bad?"

END OF CHAPTER

notes:

This is my first fic, and to be honest, im only making it on wattpad because my invite to ao3 wasn't accepted yet. If you haven't guessed by now, or haven't read the description, this is a retelling of slimecicle's "we spent 100 days in a hardcore minecraft apocalypse". The demons took over after I saw an animation about it :3. Gotta thank my friend ConnieX123 though (hi Connie!) for indirectly inspiring me by showing me their fics. I intend to see this to the end and make this story a triumph. Thats all. See you next chapter!
