"Love isn't real, it's just a chemical reaction."

His voice filtered through the noisy room and caught her attention.

She turned around to see a boy talking to his friends. Not a boy, that boy.

The boy she had seen trip over air, say sorry to nothing. The boy she had seen smile to sweetly when he looked at the puppy on campus. The boy who's laugh she had heard all the way across the cafeteria.

But that's not who everyone else knew him as.

For the others he was a clipped, straight A student stricter than the president. He was the guy who had the answer to everything, who could shut down a fight with just his words.

His statement, and his confidence while saying it brought a smile to her face.

The noise enveloped them and that was that.

A subtle start of something that would change the both of them.
