Derek sat slumped on his couch with his hand over his eyes.
"Well Nephew, I would say that you screwed that up but for the first time I think you actually know that already." Peter said looking at Derek from the stairs.
"Peter, don't." Derek growled.
"Derek, how long exactly do you think that your little ragtag team of wolves can last without Stiles?" Peter asked calmly as he walked towards him
"We have Stiles, he is still part of this pack." Derek said quietly as he glared up at his uncle.
"Do you? Do you still have him? Because from what I've seen he's getting closer and closer to leaving. Or are you telling me you haven't noticed?" Peter asked shaking his head.
Derek gave a deep sigh, "He just needs time maybe...."
"Maybe what? Use your damn senses Derek, the loneliness, the sadness, he reeks of pain. It's honestly a wonder he walks through that door still."
"What do you want me to do Peter?" Derek shouted. Suddenly his phone started buzzing. Rolling his eyes he threw his phone to the sofa without looking at who was calling and stared at Peter. "This is Stiles we are talking about, he would never leave the pack, he would never leave Scott."
"And what if he does?" Peter asked raising his eyebrows at him. "He is human Derek, a very smart, very brave human, but human none the less. And this pack is pushing him out bit by bit and one day they will push him too far."
Derek listened with a deep frown, he knew Peter was right, he had hoped the sadness around him would fade with time, that despite everything Stiles had been through he would just go back to being Stiles. He saw how Scott was with him, the distance between him and the rest of the pack seemed to be growing. He had told Scott off many times telling him to stop punishing Stiles for what happened to Allison but it all seemed to be in vain.
"If I knew how to fix this, you think I wouldn't?" Derek said with a sad look.
Peter looked at him curiously, "Would you?"
Derek opened his mouth to respond when a loud ping of his phone interrupted him. He looked at his phone to see someone left him a voicemail, with a frown he listened to it, his eyes widened with every word.
"Look Sourwolf, I know I'm the last person you probably want to talk to right now." Derek quickly stood up the phone pressed to his ear. Peter looked at him in surprise as he heard Stiles's voice. "But I think there's something going on in the Preserve. My car broke down and now there's a voice calling for help which sounds like all kinds of horror movie clichés." Derek exchanged worried looks with Peter as they both heard how shaky Stiles's voice was.
"So, if someone could come pick me up before I end up as something or someone's dinner that would be great." Derek started walking around the apartment searching for his keys as he listened. Peter quickly started calling the pack one by one.
"Oh, and if I die out here, I'm warning you that I'm going to haunt your ass for leaving me out here alone." Derek swore as he heard the click of the voicemail ending.
"I called the rest of the pack they're all on their way to the preserve." Peter explained as they both walked to the door.
"Scott?" Derek asked as they both looked at each other almost knowing the answer already.
"He said and I quote "I'll be there when I'll be there." Peter answered shaking his head.
"I'll deal with him later." Derek promised angrily as they got into his car.
"Say the word Nephew and I would be happy to help." Peter said with a smirk.
