*sigh*

I released a sigh of relief as I filled the basket with charcoal, which seemed more than enough for today.

Today is not the day for selling these charcoals, but since a new year is approaching, I should try to earn enough money so that we can eat the food to our heart's content.

"Tanjiro?"

I turned my face to see my mother standing at the entrance of the house, wearing her usual clothes. She is wearing a purple and cream checkered kimono with a white and long-sleeved kappōgi over the top, also sporting a white tenugui cloth around her head, covering most of her hair.

"Your face is all covered in soot. Come over here."

She said this and started walking towards me.

Oh, right, I forgot to clean my face.

Then she lowers her body to clean my face with the corners of the sleeves of the white kappōgi she is wearing.

She had to lower to touch my face because my mother's height is slightly higher than mine because she is older than me; I am just a 15-year-old boy.

"It might get dangerous if it starts snowing. It's fine for you to just stay home."

My mother said this as she continued wiping the soot from my face. Her hands are somewhat rough; it's only because my mother sometimes helps me when she gets some spare time to make the charcoal with me, and the other reason is that she has to cook food for us daily, well the latter is inevitable because even though I know how to cook but my mother denies taking any help from me. So --I will train myself to become strong enough so my mother can rest well. I definitely will.

"Well, I want everyone to eat their fill on New Year's, so I am going to sell as much charcoal as I can."

I said this and noticed my mother was slightly smiling while looking at me. She finished wiping my face as she moved her hand away from my face.

"Thank you..."

As she said this and was going to get up from the ground, one of my brothers and one of my sisters came and stood near my mother.

"Nii-chan, you are going to town again today?"

"I am coming with you!"

The first one to open his mouth was none other than my fourth sibling and second brother, Kamado Shigeru. The other was my third sibling and second sister, Kamado Hanako. They are both the cutest and sweetest siblings anyone could ask for. Well, all my siblings are cute.

In total, we are six siblings. I am the oldest one; then comes Nezuko, Takeo, Hanako, Shigeru, and lastly, Rokuta. I love all of them. I will do whatever it takes to continue seeing them smile like this.

"Oh no, you are not. You know you cannot walk as fast as Tanjiro."

Hmm? Oh, as Mother finally stood up, another brother came into my view, Takeo. He is holding an axe on one of his shoulders and has a surprised expression on his face. Hmm? Why?

"But mom!"

"No, buts. He would not be able to give you a ride if you are tired since he cannot use the cart today."

It's true. I cannot use the cart today because of the rise in snowfall; this rise is very high, as my mother told us yesterday. So, I might not be able to control the cart today, so I am using the basket today.

"Nii-chan..."

As I was lost in my thoughts, Shigeru came running towards me and hugged me tightly. I was not surprised, though, because it had happened many times in the past.
