Hogwarts: September 1st, 1969
Aurora Nott stepped on the Hogwarts Express, quickly finding an empty compartment to wait for her friends. Seventh year was finally there and she couldn't wait to get started. Since she was one of the first people on the train and had to wait, she took out one of her transfiguration textbooks.
Aurora had always been taller than her classmates growing up, so she was happy when she noticed that most of her classmates had finally caught up to her. She would no longer be the tallest girl in the year. She looked nothing like the rest of her family's blonde hair, piercing blue eyes, and dark skin tones - Aurora had been unlucky to inherit the exact opposite in her mousy brown hair, fair complexion, and dark eyes.
Aurora twisted her hair into a bun and stuck her wand in the bun to hold it in place.
"Hello, Rory." She heard a familiar voice say.
She startled slightly and looked up to see all three of The Noble and Most Ancient House of Black sisters looking at her with matching grins. The three girls looked completely different, but remarkably alike at the same time. Like someone had been drawing and had run out of ink in their pen.
"Cissy, Andi, Bella, I've missed you three!" Aurora put her book to the side and wrapped all three sisters in a hug.
"You just saw us three weeks ago." Andromeda chuckled.
"Three weeks is too long to go without seeing my favorite Black sisters. Come on before someone tries to join us."
Andi grabbed Bella's hand and pulled her inside the compartment.
Bellatrix Black's hair, which could hardly be tamed, was black and curly. She had fair skin and was the shortest for being the oldest of the three. Her facial features were very sharp, but still youthful and gorgeous.
Andromeda Black had a lighter shade of hair, dark brown, but the same complexion. She looked more like their mother, with rounded facial features. But always had a twinkle in her eye like she knew a secret that you didn't know.
Narcissa Black had the blondest hair that Aurora had ever seen, and her hair was always straight as a board. Not a single piece out of place. Her facial features were always in control, and it was hard to know what she was thinking unless you were extremely close to the youngest Black sister.
Bellatrix was in the same year as Aurora, just over a month older than her. They quickly became friends in their first year, connecting over similar childhood expectations and experiences..
Andromeda was in her sixth year and was the carefree one between her two other sisters. She was particularly talented in transfiguration, which was Aurora's favorite subject. Once the two of them started talking about the class, there was no stopping them.
Narcissa was in her fourth year and was the most quiet and serious of the three girls. She excelled in potions compared to her peers. She regularly turned to Aurora for instruction in new potions since the current potions master wasn't providing enough challenge.
It was no secret who Aurora's favorite Black sister was, though.
"How were your three weeks without seeing me? Disastrously boring, I'm guessing?" Aurora asked as she plopped back down on the compartment seat.
"Oh yes. Peace and quiet. Disastrously quiet. I could read for once." Bellatrix rolled her eyes playfully.
"Oh please. Bella was sad for days when you left. She was bored out of her mind." Andromeda teased.
"Oi, shut it." Bellatrix almost cracked a smile at her middle sister.
"Oh! Cissy, I got you something from Diagon when I went last week." Aurora reached into her bag and pulled out an advanced copy of potion making.
