I remember that being the last time I smiled with all gratitude and meaning, I could never explain the utmost joy of that day, no words could describe how I felt, grateful, happy, and accepted.
Those were the last times I would feel completely and utterly happy. Everything else was history.
How simply everyone can change after a single day could give you whiplash and such overwhelming feelings. I was expecting everything to be perfect after that day of leaving the orphanage, I couldn't be any more wrong, the first thing I heard as soon as we entered the car was, "Don't expect us to play nice, we're only doing this for Charlie, everything else is just charity, so don't feel like family, if anything, hope to be treated better than a garbage bag sweetie,"
Hearing a sign from Sindy, Charlie's mom, all I could wish, was to go back to that orphanage and never step foot out of it again.
"Do you understand that sweetie?" asked Sindy with a sickly sweet smile, "Yes Mom", I answered back gingerly, "NO! You must have gotten the wrong idea, I'm Mrs. Sindy to you, nothing more, Understood!?"
"Y-Yes Mr-Mrs S-Sindy"
"Perfect, I can already feel this being a long day"
That was the moment I noticed the tears in Charlie's eyes, the determination to speak up, to shout at her mom to stop, but not being able to say a thing, probably not going to get a better answer out of her mom than she just did.
I realized we would both be stuck in this house, stuck in a prison that we would never be able to escape from. We will have to survive the whole time, playing nice and not disrespecting, not taking back, and maybe not talking at all.
This was a mistake, as soon as the car took off, I wanted to jump out, open the car door, and jump out and run as fast as I could back to safety not knowing if that was going to save me at all. But what can I do now, nothing is going to stop this car magically, nothing is going to be good or nice anymore.
It was all a matter of survival now.
Will I be able to survive?
Will we both survive?
Or will this be the end?
