"Amazing service Jake, thank you." The parish priest said, while Jake was packing his guitar.
"Your welcome, Father." Jake replied, his heart full of glee. "If you're free, come over next sunday, I would like to discuss about the vacation bible study for kids. If you're bus-"
"I'll be always available for God and my Church, Father."
The priest smiled, patting Jake's shoulder.
"We're forever grateful to have you, Jake."
"Anytime, Father. If you excuse me, I have to go home."
"See you, Jake."
—
Jake's home."Jake, please tell me you're not volunteering-"
"I am." Jake voice sounded apologetic, his mom let out a sigh after hearing that. "Your brother is not like before these days, he's not going to church-"
Jake gave his mom's a small squeeze. "He's older than me, mom. Maybe he's just going through something." Jake said, assuring his mother. "He has not attended a single mass after enrolling into the Job. He never talks to me or dad, unless it's too important."
"I feel like I'm drifting away from him.."
"Mom, I'm sure he'll open up. He's just going through his late twenties phrase." Jake let out and his mother nodded.
"I hope so." Jake's mother patted his cheek lovingly.
"Love you, Jake."
"I love you more, mom"
—
Not much later, Jake went to a flower shop, where his best friend, Sunghoon works as a part timer.
Sunghoon's boss, Jeonghan was the sweetest. Jake had huge respect for that man, for simple reasons. He let Sunghoon go during exam seasons, he doesn't complain over little things.
The door opened with a jing of a bell, making Sunghoon turn. "Hi Jake!" Sunghoon said, his voice energized after seeing his friend.
But his attention was on,
You.
You turned around to see him. Jake lost his breath, his lungs betraying him. Emerald eyes, button nose, maroon lips, slender limbs, sharp jawline, sculpted collarbone. That maroon dress which was just made for you.
"He's my friend, Jake." Sunghoon said, making Jake jolt, practically snapping from his reverie. "Oh..Jake, nice to meet you."
Maybe he hadn't heard someone speak so sweet.. or, is he surrounded by old people who sing nothing but hymns?
"What should I write in the card?" Sunghoon asks and Jake shifts his attention to the white lilies you're buying.
"From Y/n, that's all." You say and Sunghoon scribbles it down. He handed the lilies to you.
"Thank you."
"See you again, y/n." Sunghoon replied, his pale skin tinting into a pink colour
You smiled hearing that from sunghoon. You winked at him his blush turning into maroon.
You spared one glance at Jake, his eyes still latched onto you. He breathed, exhaling with all his might, when you left the store.
"Don't look at your sister like that." Sunghoon said and Jake whipped his head to see him.
"What?" Jake asked. "I mean, she's mine so don't look at her like that." Jake rolled his eyes.
"You say that to every girl I see." Jake said, huffing. "Give me a robe and make me father, Instead of calling every girl in the world as my sister."
"Aren't you going become one-"
"I'll bite your knee caps off."
Sunghoon laughed, still unamused by Jake's threat. "Why did you come at this hour, it's late." Sunghoon said and Jake came near him. "I'm going to volunteer in the vacation bible school on Sunday."
"Okay church boy. What do you want me to do?" Sunghoon asked. "Can you say Jeonghan hyung to arrange some flowers for the children?" "Yeah, I'll tell him. Probably I'll do the work I guess, he's not visiting these days."
"Oh.." Jake said. He wondered where that man went, he kinda missed him.
"Who's that woman though, I've never seen her around?" Jake asked, pulling a chair and sitting in front of the receptionist table. "She said she came here to visit her late friend." Sunghoon said, arranging a bouquet.
—
"What is our dear grim reaper doing here?" Jeonghan asked, not looking at you. "Hi, angel Seraphim, or Jeonghan..?" You asked and Jeonghan turned to smile at you. You looked around, scanned the surroundings. "May I ask, what are you doing in the cemetery? All alone?"
"I asked the same to you." He said. "I came to pay visit to Eliot." You say and moved forward to where he was standing.
You bent and wiped the dust off the stone and placed the bouquet on the grave.
In the loving memory of
Eliot Griffith" You're here for who?" You asked and Jeonghan sighed. "You're being too nosy for a grim reaper."
You shrugged. You cared less about these heavenly beings. Your only wish is to go to your afterlife, you're tired of living this immortal life and reaping the souls of people who you don't know anything about.
You waved a good bye and walked away.
Jeonghan saw your figure disappear. He sighed closing his eyes. "I hope you go to afterlife soon."
—
"Gab, stop following me." You sid halting your steps not turning to look around. "Ahh you find me everytime!"
"I saw you met your last target." Gabriel said, leaping over to come next to you. You started walking, with Gabriel by your side.
"Yeah, I did. He's cute." You said and Gabriel whistle.
"I'll kill that cutie " You pouted and Gabriel gagged. "He can't die unless he wants to."
"Exactly, Gabriel."
"What are you gonna do?" The angel asked in curiousity. "Well I could kill his family -"
"You'll get another 1000 year penalty." Gabriel dead panned.
"Or make him to madly love me until he goes insane and gives me his life, he'll reap his soul himself, for me."
