Letting out a massive yawn, Charlie was sure he was awake too early. It was 5:00 am and he was waiting outside of the private airport drinking his coffee and waiting for the arrival of his band, Conan, and Conan's band. From what he had heard the rest of the crew would be meeting them in Texas. Honestly, he was confused about why he and his band were flying with Conan instead of with everyone else but he proceeded to shrug it off. He had more important things to focus on.
"Hey Charlie." said a voice, tapping him gently on the shoulder and breaking him from his thoughts. Turning around, Charlie saw the face of his drummer, Kai Summers. Wearing black ripped jeans, a tee shirt of a band Charlie had never heard of, and old combat boots, Kai was undeniably breathtakingly handsome. The 25 year old had soft black hair falling into his face and a glimmer in his eye, but despite his looks this wasn't the reason Charlie liked him so much. The reason he was so fond of Kai was because that man was the most incredibly supportive person Charlie had ever come across, always willing to sit and listen no matter the situation and was always ready with a hug and advice. Despite his intense sarcasm, perpetual annoyance, and dark sense of humor, Kai Summers was by far the kindest man Charlie had ever met.
"Kai! Good morning!" replied Charlie, giving Kai a smile.
"Yeah, if you can even call this morning. It's 5 am. The sun is barely up. Also, where is Conan and his band and the rest of our band? I mean seriously why the fuck are we the only people here?" grumbled Kai. Almost as soon as he said this though, a gaggle of people began to come into focus walking toward them, the early morning darkness having obscured them until that moment.
Charlie's face broke into a smile as he saw Conan at the back of the group, chugging an iced coffee and looking exhausted. Sporting gray sweatpants and the same red hoodie he had been wearing when they first met, Charlie couldn't help but think he looked stunning nonetheless. With a quick role of his eyes, he broke himself from that thought. He quickly reminded himself that he was still mad at Conan for nearly killing him and was still confused at Conan's weird text to him, so he had no place to be thinking about how pretty his dark curly hair was or how he managed to look good in an old hoodie and sweats.
"CHARLIE!!!!!" yelled two voices in unison, causing Charlie to pull his eyes away from Conan. Smiling, he realized the voices belonging to Jackson Clare, his guitarist, and Veronica Terris, his keyboard player. Typical of them to arrive together, thought Charlie to himself. Veronica and Jackson had been glued together since the band had formed and despite their frequent denials of the accusations, Kai and Charlie were pretty sure they were dating.
Veronica looked cool as always, and despite the early morning she was seen wearing a dark purple leather jacket and expertly done eyeliner. He quickly noticed she was sporting pink hair and as buzzcut which was definitely new, Charlie thought. Despite the fact that it was quite different from her previous shoulder length blonde hair, he thought the pink buzzcut it suited her even better.
"Nice hair, Nica." said Charlie as Veronica engulfed him in a hug. Veronica was a hugger. Big time.
"Oh you noticed! Thought it was time for a change of hair for the tour, you know?" laughed Veronica, fidgeting with her septum piercing. No matter the time of day, Charlie doubted he had ever seen her not smiling and happy. He shuddered to think what would have to happen to wipe her perpetual smile from her face.
