"Lilith, sweetheart. Cedric is here to pick you up!" Mom yelled from downstairs. Why is he here already? He texted me five minutes ago. I can't get ready that quickly. I guess he lives nearby. But if that's true, just let me know he's almost here. Or text me sooner, so I actually have time to get ready. I quickly put on my clothes, brushed my hair, and put on some make-up. As I was walking downstairs, I heard my mother telling Cedric that she would like it if I started dating him. That he would be a much better match than my last boyfriend. Who does she think she is, that was way out of line to say to him. "Mom! Can you not. That is so out of line! Come Cedric, we're leaving." I quickly grabbed his wrist and marched out the front door. That was so humiliating. I don't need my mom telling a random guy he'd be a better match for me than my ex. No matter how accurate it is. "Woah, Sunshine, slow down. She was just being nice. I didn't read too much into it." Suddenly, I felt him pulling his wrist back, making me turn around, facing him. My other arm ended up on his chest. I felt his heartbeat speeding up. He leaned over to my ear and whispered: "Besides, it would be an honor to date you, Sunshine." He kissed my cheek and got in his car. I brought my arms to my chest and realised that my heartbeat was going fast as well. I didn't know what to say or do. I quickly snapped out of it and got in the car as well.

On our way to school, I realized I never asked what his story was when he found out that he's colorblind. So I asked him. I hope it was okay for me to ask so directly. After all, I've only known him for one day.
"Well." Cedric started. "When I was in kindergarten, we had to draw the rainbow. I was confused why we got seven crayons to color it in. When the teacher came to look at my rainbow, she asked why I was only using blue and yellow. Turns out there are seven colors in the rainbow. I was such a confused little boy. My teacher realised that there was something with me, so my parents did some tests. Aparently, I can see yellow and blue really good, but all the rest is pretty much just a different shade of yellow or blue. But don't worry, I can drive just as well as any other person. I might not be able to know the difference between green and red, I still know that the top light means I need to stop the car."
"Have you ever tried these colorblind glasses? I saw some people try them on and get really emotional."
"You just want to see me cry, don't you, Sunshine." As I wanted to tell him I didn't mean it like that, I noticed him looking at me with a funny look on his face and started laughing. He rushed his hand through my hair and told me to relax. That he was just joking. He did, however, never tried those glasses. I fixed my hair again when I noticed the song on the radio. It was my jam, I turned the volume up and started singing along. I almost completely forgot I was with Cedric in the car when I heard him singing as well. For the next three minutes, we were just two people jamming in a car on our way to school. It felt so amazing, I burst into laughter when the song was over. I haven't had this much fun in months. I laughed so much that I even cried a little bit. "Are you always this quirky with this song?" He asked me while trying to stop laughing again. "Heck yeah, this is only my all-time favorite song ever! If I hear this song, I just have to sing along."
"Well, then I guess I know what I have to do when I pick you up every day. Because this really just made my day and it's only 7:30 in the morning. You're going to make all my mornings a good morning, Sunshine." He is way too smooth with his words. But a part of me liked hearing those words because, honestly, my day started off really great as well. I think I could get used to Cedric picking me up every day.

"I swear this school looks bigger every time I look at it."
"You'll get used to it after a while." I turned around to see a guy standing behind me. People have got to stop creeping up on me around school. He did seem like a nice guy, I hope he really is one. "Did I just say that out loud? Well, that's a bit embarrassing."
"Don't worry about it. Everybody talks to themselves from time to time. I'm Ethan Hunter. You must be the newbie people are talking about." Great, people are talking about me. Just what I needed. "I'm Lilith Banes. My mom recently got remarried. We moved here a few days ago. In case the people weren't saying that."
"You have a nice sense of humor. I like that." He gave a subtle wink and handed me a paper with his phone number on. I saw that he noticed Cedric coming our way. So he said goodbye and told me to text him if I wanted. That he would be happy to have me as a friend. "What was Hunter doing here?" He looked jealous, I don't like this look on him. "He was just introducing himself, sunshine. Don't worry about it." His look immediately changed to a little grin. "That's not fair. That's my nickname for you. You can't just use it for me. If you want to give me a nickname, you'll have to come up with something for yourself, Sunshine." He gave me a little nudge. He was really handsome.
