You probably don't remember her,
The simple yet sad girl she had become,
Her smiles were worn and weathered away,
Her loud laughs stifled and her body then stiffened,
Her smiles slaughtered by his tight grasp,
Her hips hung scars like war wounds,
Her body so tired from her mind's memory loops,
Memories that played on repeat religiously until she could no longer fathom their fate,
Someone so tired of hurt that they had begun to
number their last days as numb and meaningless,
The words whipped her cheeks as "unworthy of my love" leaked from his lips,
The girl who had trusted his heart even with its holes instead of her head,
However, yet the girl he had once destroyed mentally and physically for years had grown stronger,
Through all the pain and problems he engulfed her in, she grew stronger,
She became the light of everyone's lives, glowing brighter and bigger than imaginable,
His extinguishable threats and turbulence to put out her flame were no match for what she had become,
She never would allow his torturous touch to put her flame out ever again,
She let her head make her decisions now,
And the day she left him she grew stronger and brighter then her flame could even fathom,
Burning his memory from her mind and her own memory,
Though times her flame surely dwindled as she learned how to keep her flame strong for herself,
Through nights of darkness and dishonesty she let her flame guide her,
Though her flame didn't always shine bright enough to see everything surrounding her,
She somehow guided herself back to forgiveness,
God gave her strength and safety from the elements that tested her flame,
Yet not all her choices good, he persisted in his forgiveness,
His plan was unclear to her at times,
His forgiveness fueling her flame like fire kindling,
Her trauma laid through a man's own hand may have dwindled her flame throughout her life,
Hands that once held abuse, assault and, neglect
Now we're replaced with those of God,
God's hands wrapped around her flame protecting its iridescent glow,
And in this moment she knew her flame would now never burn out and would only grow bigger, stronger and brighter with the love of God's own hands protecting her flame that once led her out of her own darkness.
