"I was leanin' over their bodies. My parents, of course. They had slipped out in there sleep, hand in hand and huddled close to each other. They seemed so peaceful... And I s'pose that's what kept me in tact. What kept me sane. Because that horrible gut feeling I had made me want to kill m'self. But as long as they were happy, I was happy, y'know? And when y'told me I was gonna see m'real parents, I was happier than ever. 'M good at hidin' m'feelin's, Miss Paulin'. And honestly, seein' m'real parents... It made me ecstatic. But then... For some reason, you all left me. I was standing alone, watching my parents as they walked away from me. I looked around, but I couldn't see you... Any of you... I was scared, Miss Paulin'. I ain't supposed to scare easily. So I started runnin'. Lemme tell ya, not even Scoot could run as fast as I was runnin'. I ran to the point my legs felt like they were bleeding, but no matter how fast I ran, they always managed to walk faster. They were disappearin' into the horizon faster than anythin'. And I ran until my legs couldn't carry me and I collapsed. And I looked up, I called out, but they were gone. What I'm tryin' to say is... Yeh, I'm not scared of a lotta things. But I'm terrified of bein' alone."
Miss Pauling flipped her notebook closed with a sigh. The room the two had been in was small, it felt constricting, and she didn't bother to hide her uncomfortable feelings seeing as Mundy didn't either. She handed the Australian a small bottle of pills. "What're these?" He said coldly, examining the bottle, and she peered over her glasses as him, adjusting them gently. "Anti-depressants. The last thing we need is for you to do something we'll all regret." Pauling replied with the same cold tone. There was a long and rather awkward silence after that until the man let out a long, slightly frustrated sigh, but took the depressants in his hand and smiled.
"Thanks."
"Oh, and Sniper..."
"Hm?"
"Don't tell the others."
