(when night falls)
"So, Margot has an alter ego that has taken over her mind and is planning to do something terribly wrong?" Elena summed up across from Stefan in the Gilbert home where the rest of the group sat uncomfortably, eyes warily moving between Kai, Klaus, and the rest of the Mikaelsons who stood by the door.
Stefan rubbed his eyes, "Basically."
Beside him, Damon coughed. "Well, I'd say I could write you all a great eulogy, but I think I'll be dead too so, uh, nice knowing you."
"We're not going to die."
"We're definitely going to die," Caroline told them, stopping them from a bickering session that was nearing. "If we're going by the book, that is."
Bonnie glanced at the blonde with an estranged look. "What book?" Her question caused Kol to lift up his arms revealing the old, worn book, "This one."
The witch frowned as she slowly moved up to grab it before scurrying back to her seat and opening the pages until she reached one that felt as though it were calling her name. "The Midnight Witch?"
"That's the one."
After a moment of silence, all waiting for Bonnie's new assumptions, she spoke once more. "Yeah, we're probably screwed. It says here Margot will end the world or save it, and from the looks of where we are, I think the former is much more likely."
"But it's not Margot," Klaus argued, defending his wife. "It can't be Margot. She– She has to be somewhere in there. We just have to find her and she can fix this. I know she can."
Bonnie sighed at the saddened hybrid who was clearly in shambles at the disappearance of his wife, or rather, his sanity.
"I mean, you did mention something about a dream realm, didn't you, Klaus?"
He nodded. "Yeah, when she gave birth to the twins. She said she was able to get out of there, though."
"How did she do that?"
"Our–" he cut himself off as he sent glances to his siblings before continuing, "Our mother helped her."
Damon groaned as he leaned back on the armchair he was sitting on. "Great. Momma Original to the rescue. We're even more dead now."
"Not necessarily," Elijah told them, slightly shocked by the news of his mother but also not at all surprised. "If our mother helped her then perhaps she can tell us how to help her now. Or at least how to enter the dream realm."
Stefan nodded, but his mind was swimming with assuming thoughts as the thought of Klaus' mother returning surfaced. Damon might have been right. From what Klaus had told him, the woman was a monster.
But for his daughter? He would do anything to help bring her back.
"Bonnie, is there any way you can make someone see ghosts? Like you did with Jeremy."
