everyone left the party except out friend group. Katie and Kofi were downstairs doing who knows what and me and kj we're upstairs playing truth or dare. "I dare you to.."I said but then I saw Daquan running up the stairs, out of breath. Katie and Kofi follow. "great party" Daquan said. "what ever happened to Sam?"i was thinking. about the event from earlier and then Katie said "oh she never was much fun." she whispered. "I don't know who would even hang out with her anyway" "you used to, you know, in middle school." Katie's face dropped. "she's just an ugly girl who didn't deserve my friendship" Katie. added. "you never gave her a chance" kj blurted out and then covered his mouth like he was embarrassed. all of a sudden all these questions about Sam start flowing out of Daquan's mouth like a river. I was stunned. "I have to go to the bathroom" I said. when k got back I asked kj to drive me home. me and kj got in the car. he started up the engine and pulled off into the steady darkness. I looked up and I saw the stars. I located the North Star and the Big Dipper. the Big Dipper is my favorite constellation. at this point I have my window down sticking my head out of the window to see the stars. I almost don't realize that kj isn't taking me home. "where are we going" I ask nervously "some place bright." kj replied. whatever that means. I keep looking at the stars until I'm blinded by a street light. bright. I thought. downtown Atlanta. kj stops at a fancy Italian restaurant called Magianos and we find a place to park. since I'm pretty much covered in various things like sodas and food stains, I ask where his moms cloths are. this is his parents car, so I know that she keeps nice cloths in here for "just in case" situations. he leads me to the trunk. "these are all my cousins cloths. she had a pageant to win." I look trough all the dresses and I sees red one. it's short and it kinda puffs at the bottom. I read the red. Rue21. I slip the dress over my shirt and shorts and pull off my cloths from underneath it. I was already wearing black flats which helped a little bit. we walked in and kj grabbed my hand. it was the first time he'd held my hand since 7th grade. the waiters escorted us to our seats and asked what we want to drink. "sprite please." I said. "coke" I hear kj mumble. we're on opposite side of a booth so our hands have dropped. I see him look up from his menu. he's staring at me. as soon as I looked up at him he said "you know I've loved you since 6th grade?" I didn't expect that. all I could say was "I...I..I didn't think you felt that way." suddenly I can't focus on him. I see my current boyfriend and his current girlfriend kissing by the bathroom. "what's wrong?" he looked over there and his face dropped. "you're doing the same thing. just don't say anything." I say quickly. "I don't love her." I'm shocked by this. "then why are you with her?" I say. "I don't know." he says. "you've been with her for two years and you don't love her?" "no" "then why are you with her" I ask again. "to distract myself from you." I hear come out of his mouth. it echoes in my head a few times before I can open my eyes again. before I can say anything, kj gets up walks right over to them pulls them apart and breaks up with the girl. I walk over and break up with the guy. me and kj leave hand in hand. I felt like a child. I start walking back to the car but kj pulls me the other way. I don't question it. we walk across the street to the Westin hotel and he walks up to the counter, says his name, shows his drivers license and just like that, he's holding a room key. we go up the elevator to floor 11. we're in room 1111. he knows I have something about the number 11. that's so sweet. we walk in and the smell of fresh sheets hits me. there's only one bed. I sit down in the chair and he picked me up and basically threw me on the bed. he sat on the bed with me and laughed. we played truth or dare and he fell asleep first. I later down next to him and kissed him on his nose. with that, i fell asleep. I woke up to my phone ringing. it's Katie. I answer and she says "get up you're late for school" "oh my gosh! thanks for reminding me! I'll be there in 45 minutes." I hang up. I wake kj up and we run over to Magianos to get his car. we leave and head to school. I walked into 3rd period and see Sam. hair blue and crying. next to Daquan who looks like a giant compared to her. she looks beat. I see a bruise on her arm and a swollen eye. why is her hair blue? wasn't it black yesterday?
