I've always preferred living in the world of fiction. Whether it was running fantasy wrestling federations, playing D&D, or watching great world building TV shows.
In the 2000's I joined a couple sites that were devoted to fans of Television. Not just watching TV, but in the mechanics of scheduling, ratings, and of course producing TV shows (on paper of course).
As my first wattpad contribution I have decided to flesh out one of my TV show concepts called "Men on Pause" (which was supposed to be a play on words for menopause).
I created "Men on Pause" in 2007 as a summer show with 12 short episode guides, which I am going to expand into 13 chapters. The show drew inspiration from the Tom Hanks' movie in the 80's "The 'Burbs". Although I have never seen it, when "Men of a Certain Age" came out in 2009 with Ray Romano I thought it might be close in concept. However, my treatment preceded that show and also preceded "Man on Pause" (2022).
I am not a great one for multi-media (showing my age) and do not enjoy the process. If any readers want to ever help out with covers I would love any aid.
So, the original show description went like this;
Men on Pause [Sit-com] [30 minutes] [12 episodes]
Two men, next door neighbors but as is typical in suburbia, complete strangers, find themselves with the summer off. One man is accustomed to this as an annual event because he is a school teacher, but to the other, a suddenly out of work CPA it is a brand new experience.
Irving, is a high school teacher who takes the summer off to work on love of writing, his projects include his memoirs and a textbook on American History. His wife is also a teacher but finds it necessary to spend the summer travelling, away from her husband.
Larry, is an accountant, a CPA with his MBA, who has taken only two weeks vacation over the last 10 years. His obsessive compulsive behaviour has finally caused him to crash, and this "efficiency expert" has gone from making big money to being unemployed.
Join these two men who go from having their lives on pause for the summer to putting their lives in the fast lane on the search for meaning and something more out of life.
Who would have thought that two grown men could get into so much trouble, but that is what a mid-life crisis will do to you.
For Larry and Irving this will be a summer they will never forget.
