You felt someone shaking you awake. When you opened your eyes you realized that it was your best friend, Wayne.
"Good morning sleepy head. Me and Raj are going to get some munchies at McDonald's. You wanna come?" Wayne asked you with a smile. You had forgotten that you were sleeping over at his house with Raj last night.
"Oh um, yeah sure. Just let me get out of my pj's," you said, rubbing the sleep from your eyes.
As you got dressed in the bathroom, you looked up in the mirror and couldn't help but smile. You've had a crush on Wayne for the past year now, and you were excited to spend time with him. You walked out of the bathroom, and saw Raj and Wayne standing at the door.
"Hey, you ready?" Raj asked.
"Yeah, just let me grab my wallet real quick." You told him. After a while of looking for your wallet, you remembered that you had left it at your house.
"Shoot, um Wayne," you hollered from his room.
"Yeah?" He responded.
"I think I left my wallet at home, can you drive me there quick before we go to McDonald's please?" You asked him, feeling bad.
"Oh well I can just pay for whatever you're getting, I don't mind," he told you.
"Are you sure?" You asked.
"Yeah don't worry about it. Anything for you," he said, with a bit of sarcasm in his voice.
"Haha, while I'll just pay you back when we get to my house," you told him as you ran down his stairs to meet him at the door.
"Naw don't worry about it. I don't need you going into too much debt," he told you, laughing.
"If you insist," you say with a chuckle.
You and Raj both raced for the shotgun, and you got there first. Wayne got in the drivers seat and turned over to you giggling.
"Why are you laughing?" You asked him.
"No reason. I just didn't know you wanted to sit by me soooo bad," he told you letting out a laugh. Raj laughed with him.
"No I just don't trust your driving skills. At least if you drive us off a cliff I'll have the airbags to protect me," you said rolling your eyes.
"Ok, whatever you say. I wouldn't blame you for wanting to be so close to me. I am pretty hot," he said, as he yawned and put his arm behind you.
"Ok Prince Charming, let's get going. I'm ready to eat," Raj said from the back seat.
Wayne took his arm out from behind you, and got driving. As you pulled up to McDonald's he gave you a twenty dollar bill.
"Don't spend it all in one place," he told you.
"Ok grandpa, let's just get breakfast," you told him as you walked in.
"Well if I'm a grandpa, then you're a mummy. Not like-a mom. I mean like-the dead people. In the pyramid," he stuttered out.
"Don't kill yourself, I got it the first time," you joked with him.
"Yeah, I guess it's not as funny when you have to explain it," he said, laughing.
You and Raj walked up to the counter together, while Wayne saved your table. Raj looked over at you and smiled.
"Is it just me, or is Wayne acting a little weird today?" He asked you.
"What do you mean, he acts weird everyday," you said grinning.
"Yeah you might be right," Raj told you, laughing.
"Hi, welcome to McDonald's. What can I get you today?" The cashier asked.
"Oh shoot. We forgot to ask Wayne what he wanted. I'll be right back, save our spot." Raj told you, as he awkwardly jogged away.
You thought about what Raj had said. Was Wayne acting different? He was maybe acting a little more flirty, but that could just be how he normally acts and you just never noticed. But you hadn't remembered Wayne ever teasing you like how he did in the car. You looked up and noticed Raj already ordering.
"Hello, earth to Y/n," he said to you. "Order."
"Oh shoot sorry. Um I'll have a breakfast sandwich," you told the cashier.
"Ok I'll have that out for you in just a second," the cashier told you and Raj.
"Ok, thanks," Raj said walking away with you. "So, Y/n, what do you think of Wayne?"
"What do you mean?" You asked Raj.
"I mean, like, do you like him?" He questioned you.
"Well yeah, we've been friends since we were kids. I would hope I liked him," You said with a confused laugh.
"No I mean do you like-like Wayne," Raj asked you.
"Oh. Um, well-I don't-um," You tried to answer.
"So you do like him," Raj interrupted.
"Well, yeah. You can't tell him though, got it?" You insisted.
"Yeah, ok, your secrets safe with me," he said.
"Um ok. Why did you want to know that anyway?" You asked him.
"I don't know. I just have a feeling that Wayne might like you too. Just a guess though," he explained.
You both walked over and sat with Wayne at the table.
"Thanks for saving us a seat," You told Wayne.
"Yeah no problem, what were you and Raj talking about over there?" He asked you.
"Um, we were..." You tried to think of something to say.
"We were just talking about how awesome that sleepover was last night. Right, y/n?" Raj explained, nudging you.
"Oh um, yeah. It was great thanks Wayne," You said, feeling relieved.
"Yeah it was pretty fun, huh? We've got to do that more often," Wayne told you.
"So, Wayne. Have you been crushing on anyone lately?" Raj asked him.
"Well actually, there is someone. Not that I'm going to tell you," Wayne said, laughing. Raj nudged you, and you couldn't help but blush. After you finished eating, Wayne dropped Raj off at his house, and you both started driving over to your house. Once you arrive you turned over to Wayne.
"So, who do you have a crush on?" You asked Wayne, raising your eyebrows.
"There's no way I'm telling you," he responded, pushing you away.
"Aww, come on. We've been friends since forever. Just tell me," You begged him.
"Yeah and that's exactly why I won't tell you," he said with a smile.
"What do you mean, that sounds like the exact reason to tell me," you told him.
"Maybe in some cases, but not in this one," he said, more serious than before.
"What, do you have a crush on me or something," you said jokingly. Wayne looked over at you. "Wait, do you actually have a crush on me?"
"Well, yeah. I didn't want to tell you because I thought it might be weird, but I really like you. And I totally understand if you don't feel the same. Shit. Um, sorry. We can just pretend I didn't say that, I'm so sorry. Let's just move on and pretend I didn't," he stuttered out.
"Wayne, I like you too," You told him, as you placed your hand on his.
"Really? Because you don't need to say that if you don't really mean it. I don't want to make you feel pressured or anything."
"Wayne, I'm not pressured. I've liked you since last year, when you took care of me after I broke my arm in hockey," you explained to him.
"I've liked you since the first day of hockey in kindergarten," he said. He looked into you eyes, and you looked back at his. He let out a little laugh. Then he grabbed your cheek, and pulled you into a kiss. You slowly placed your lips on his, and he put his other hand on your chest. It was the best kiss you ever had.
"Well, we are at your house," he said to you, blushing.
"Yeah, um we should go out some time. Just me and you," You told him.
"Yeah um, are you free next Saturday?" He asked you.
"Yeah, Saturday sounds good. We can work it out more at hockey practice tomorrow, sound good?" You asked.
"Yeah see you then," he said. You waved bye to him as he drove off. As you walked back to your house, you couldn't help but do a happy dance. You and Wayne were finally together.
