General notes about story and character.

This fanfiction is a gender neutral reader-insert, (referred only with they/them, with any gendered titles taking on the masculine) though I would advise to view (Y/N) as more of an OC, to save some discrepancies from cropping up.

The plot takes place after the Liyue archon quests, or more specifically, after the events of the Chasm and also Yelan's story quest. In this, the Traveller has not yet entered Inazuma and will most likely not be involved until (if ever) late on.

(Y/N) is enlisted as a secret intelligence officer under Ningguang's direct orders, ie. they work in the Liyue Ministry of Civil Affairs, and keeps an extremely low profile, even among the Qixing, much like Yelan.

Do note that there is a heavy emphasis of a past love for (Y/N), but it is important to keep in mind that they no longer have said feelings and have moved on. Any relationships with other mentioned characters are strictly platonic, save for of course, Ayato.

On the topic of romance -- this fanfiction, though an x-reader, is centred more around '(Y/N)' than anything, especially the first three chapters. This is a slowburn book.

Lastly, (Y/N) is not an inherently good person. They have a questionable set of morals, and though they care for their closest friends (the extreme you read at the start is the first and dare I say last occurence), I make it clear that they are only in it for their own benefit and gain. They are a hubristic person driven by their own self-interest. At a stretch, they may be considered nuanced, or morally grey.

This story, essentially, is about an adrenaline junkie who tries to find a reason to live, while running from the consequences of their past mistakes.

A say from me.

This fanfiction is purely self-indulgent and I will likely only be writing when I have time and am in the mood for it. Updates will be slow. I can guarantee that.

I will also be revising a lot of previous chapters, hence the constant updates and slightly inaccurate dates (I record the date that I originally publish a chapter) for grammar mistakes, subtle editing and rephrasing of awkward sentences, etc.

I cross-published this as well on AO3 - under the same username, same title. It's easier and quicker on AO3 for me, so I might update on there quicker than here.
