1. The Client

I woke up to the annoying ringtone I set for alarm blaring on the bedstand just to see that I was late for work. I rushed out of my house with a peanut butter-jelly sandwich in my mouth and juggling with my keys and ID card in one hand and wearing my shoe with the other and balancing my backpack on my shoulders.

I called myself a cab and it didn’t take long for it to get to me. I sighed as a closed the cab door and relaxed a bit knowing I would be at work just in time to meet the big client. Let me introduce myself, I am Alan, male, 23, I work as a wedding planner in a quite successful firm and today is the day I will meet my client who I will be leading as the main planner. I have only worked as an assistant on previous projects, but this is the first project which I will lead
with one assistant.

I rushed to the 8th floor as soon as I got off the cab and made my way to my desk. My phone beeped indicating I had less than half an hour for the meeting, so I made my way to the coffee station and made myself an iced latte, I took a sip and let the cold liquid run down my throat. I checked my phone and noticed it was almost time for the appointment, so I went back to my desk, took my planner and an iPad and headed straight to the meeting room.

I was met with Lynn, my senior who also happens to be my partner. “Good morning Alan, I will be your partner for this project. Since this is your first project as the lead, the management thought a little guidance from a senior would be helpful, so here I am” she smiled and held her hand out, I reciprocated her smile and shook her hand.

Just as we got settled in the six-seater meeting table, the door was knocked, Lynn said a little ‘come in’. The door opened to reveal a brown-haired male with a knife-sharp jaw line with perfect shave. He was wearing a formal ash button down tucked into black pants. I felt bad for the poor buttons in the shirt, they were on the verge of giving up on holding his firm
body. I caught myself drooling when I realized he was sitting right in front of me, looking at me weirdly.

“This is Mr. Walker, his wedding date is fixed in 3 months, with his fiancé Sarah” Lynn
introduced. I turned to him and gave him a polite smile. Lynn got a call at the exact
moment, so she went out to take it leaving us alone in the room. I took this moment to get
some details about the wedding like the number of people coming in, preferred location, themes, color schemes, choice of food to be served and some other details.

We had only one month in hand since their family was planning a vacation 2 months before the wedding. The bride, Sarah was in France for a business trip and would only return in the last week of the month we had left in hand. So, I will have to be with Mr. Walker and help him plan his wedding perfectly.

After one tiring day at work of creating a perfect schedule to that mold around his work, I settled for some pizza and Netflix on my comfy couch. Suddenly my phone rang, I picked it up not having the energy to look at the screen.

“Hello? May I speak to Alan Homer?” asked the voice, it was deep and smooth.

“That would be me, may I know who you are?”

“I am Mile Walker; you are my assigned wedding planner”

“Oh yes, Mr. Walker, what can I do for you?” I asked

“I am sorry for disturbing you at this hour, you can call me by my first name. I was
wondering if you were available tomorrow to look at some suites for the wedding and the after party?” he spoke

I checked my planner and saw that I did not have anything scheduled for tomorrow, “Sure, Mile. I am available tomorrow, where shall I meet you?”

“At ‘The Suites’ in downtown, is 11 am alright with you?”

“Yes. I’ll see you tomorrow, bye” he hung up after a bye.
