You were lounging on the living room couch, flicking through the channels, feeling slightly restless. The boredom was gnawing you. That was until you decided it was time to check in on your boyfriend Tom who was practicing his electric guitar in the basement.
You grabbed two cans of coke, his favourite, and headed downstairs. A smile played on your lips as you listened to the sound of his guitar strings intensify with every step.
When he heard your footsteps, he turned around with a bright smile. "Hey babe, bored of TV already?" He teased as you handed him the can of coke and taking the other for yourself. "Kind of" you replied taking a sip, "How's it going down here?".
He shrugged at your comment, setting his guitar aside on the red sofa. "Coming along, just need a little more time to perfect these riffs". You looked at him with admiration, appreciating his dedication to the guitar. "You're amazing, you know that?" You spoke sincerely. He chuckled, attempting to conceal the pink glow appearing on his cheeks. "Well, I have had a lot of practice" he added, "But don't forget that you're apart of this band too y/n. I just wish you would play with us"
Your expression saddened at his words as memories of your wrist injury resurfaced. "I don't know Tom. I guess I just lost my confidence after the incident" you confessed. His eye's softened with concern after scanning your appearance, "hey, you don't have to push yourself if you don't want too, but if you ever think about it, I could help you play".
At first you hesitated, but after seeing the genuine encouragement in his eyes, you relented - "okay, okay fine. But, if it hurts I'm stopping". He grinned, taking your hand and leading you to the couch where his guitar was sat. He gently placed the instrument in your hands and positioned himself behind you, his legs slipped on either side of yours. "Just relax and let me guide you" he spoke softly. You felt the warmth of his body against your back and took a deep breath, trying to calm the nerves in your stomach. His fingers gently covered yours, guiding them through a simple riff. To your surprise, the movements felt somewhat natural and you realised that your ability hadn't gone far. "See, you got this" Tom smiled, his voice whispering with encouragement. As the notes began to flow, you became lost in the harmony. Tom's presence behind you was comforting while his hand guided you with a delicate touch.
When you finally finished, you turned around to face Tom with a whirl of emotions swirling inside of you. "Wow" you whispered, as he cupped your cheek. "What did I tell you! You were great!". Tom's arms wrapped around you, pulling you closer. "I'm so proud of you" he murmured against your lips. You couldn't help but smile at his words before leaning in for a tender kiss.
